This is the 3rd time I ordered these. The first two purchases were excellent. The most recent bag of dates very hard and difficult to chew (as if they were old and dried out) also, there was not a hint of the white powder. Very dissappointed and I will have to throw them out or risk breaking a tooth.

A great value for a huge bag of high-quality dates. They are sweet without added sugar and go great in a bowl of oatmeal.

These are NOT "chopped dates." They are pellets that appear to have been extruded from paste. 15% of the bag is oat flour and tiny date fragments (see the photo of 4.5 ounces of this stuff at the bottom of the bag). My guess is that defective/damaged dates that didn't look good enough to sell whole were put into a compressor that extruded them into pellets. They are probably OK to eat, but they are definitely not "chopped"!

I chose this product to use in holiday baking. I am used to chopped meaning that the actual pitted date had been diced/chopped into small pieces. The chopped dates that this company provides are apparently run through a mill that produces pellets that are then dust with an oat flour that prevents them from clumping when packaged. The pellets are dry and hard to the touch. I found the pellets to be difficult to chew when I tasted them. They were rather tasteless. The next day I added a handful to my oatmeal before microwaving. I gave the oatmeal a good stir when it came out of the mictowave and I could smell the aroma of the dates. Before I added anything else to the hot oatmeal I tasted it. I was surprised to find the oatmeal almost sweet enough to eat as it was. So my advice is to use them for baking or hot cereal. I would recommend maybe soaking them in a little liquid like a bit of hot tap water or fruit juice to plump the pellets up before adding them to a recipe. I am using the date pellets in a special fruitcake recipe that I normally would use a well known brand name chopped pitted date pieces in. All the dried fruits are rehydrated by soaking in brandy overnight so these date pellets will work out just fine. I just think that the manufacturer should have described the product better. If you are thinking that these are chopped pieces of Medjool type pitted dates that are soft and sweet and found on your grocery store shelves they are not. The price is fair for what you are getting and they come in a heavy duty zip closure plastic bag. I am reveiwing them as what I received which was pellets not pieces. Definitely not a snack to eat just as they are. I hope this review helps you make an informed product decision when you are shopping.

Great product. Great for trail mix, oatmeal porridge as well as baking. The oat flour dusting keeps the dates from sticking to ones fingers.

These are not Chopped dates as mentioned in description of item. These are basically portions of dates rolled and wrapped in oat flourWhat I was expecting was chipped pieces of dried dates . So lookup description snd image together before ordering . Besides it hardly taste of datesI couldn’t return because my wife had opened the package. Needless to say it goes to garbage can

These are unsweetened. They do have an ingredient that keeps them from sticking which is natural. I put it my trail mix I make, but you could use it in baking recipes as well. I have purchased. It twice and am pleased with the product. It's a good value for your money.
