I have listened to Bobbie Gentry's music since she first came out with the Ode to Billy Joe. It is a relaxing, southern lifestyle kind of music. When I found this addition to her collection of songs, I had to add it to my library.

I have the Girl From Chickasaw County CD Box Set, a complete retrospective. As a vinyl lover, I was really hoping that it was going to be released on vinyl. Although this isn't an exact replica of the entire CD set (which would probably be 20 albums or more) it is the perfect companion and extremely well-curated. Many of the songs on the vinyl never appeared on a 12" before. So excited! Long Live, Bobbie Gentry

This compilation of Bobbie Gentrys’ fine recording history, is a testament to her sultry voice and fantastic song writing. The cover illustration by David Downton is a perfect depiction of Bobbies’ cl ss and beauty.

Bobbie evokes the American South like no other artist. Almost every song is a winner. Her voice is sultry and emotional and is a wonderful musical instrument. Her lyrics need to be read carefully. She ties you to a time and place that is other worldly. A place of Faulkner. Like a gothic southern novel. Another wonderful element is her cool producer. The use of strings and brass take us back to the mid sixties and are done really well. I wish I knew of a good name for this type of music, because it deserves its own description.

Bobbie Gentry war eine herausragende Singer/Songwriter*in mit einer tollen Stimme.Das Vinyl, einmal gewaschen, läuft ohne Nebengeräusche und das Mastering und die Aufarbeitung der Songs sind spitze. Tolle Auswahl derSongs und auch unbekannten Liedern. Gehört in jede Sammlung.

A great double cd covering her turbulent time at Capitol Records and an excellent introduction to her music.

Si compras este disco será porque ya conoces BG. Si no, es una buena introducción. Ya tengo la caja de 8 CDs de the Girl from Chicksaw County que es una maravilla pero me gustan los vinilos y cuando sale uno de BG hay que pillarlo. Gran selección de temas, muy buena presentación y un vinilo que suena de lujo sin imperfección alguna. Insisto: la calidad del prensado es espectacular, al menos mi copia. Entrega de un dia para otro, así que qué más se puede pedir. Hay que decir que creo que la versión CD tiene más canciones pero si eres amantes del vinilo es totalmente recomendable
