I recently purchased the Lucky Doug Toys 12-in-1 STEM Solar Robot Kit as a gift, hoping it would spark an interestin science and engineering for a kid aged 10. While the kit is certainly impressive with its variety ofprojects and educational potential, I found that it may be too challenging for younger children, particularlythose around age 10. The assembly requires careful attention to detail and some level of dexterity beyond whatmany kids at this age possess. There are several small components involved in building the robots, which can betricky to handle without adult assistance. For older kids or teens who enjoy a challenge, this kit is fantasticand offers hours of engaging activities. However, for younger children or those looking for something morestraightforward, it might require some guidance from an adult to fully enjoy the experience. Despite thesechallenges, it’s still a wonderful way to introduce STEM concepts in a fun and interactive manner.

1.0 out of 5 stars SOLAR ROBOT NOT FOR CHILDREN OR UNSKILLED MODEL BUILDERS
I purchased this 12-1 Solar Robot for our Girl Scout troop's use for our Robotics merit badges to be used at all levels from Daisey to Cadets. I & my husband carefully sniped and clipped each part from it's parts segments. NOTE do use the included bags and label each bag and each piece that no bag label is provided label with a marker or tape with id part #. Our 1st attempt to put the main body/mechanics/gear section was beyond frustrating even after having watched an online video. The picture instructions leave a lot to interpretation to say the least. Our 8 year old scouts tried for 40 minutes to put the mechanic gear body for the solar unit not even one of the 12 bots. I took it back home and under a scope found that the prefab holes and posts were not round but mis-shaped from the factory nothing would fit properly no wonder the scouts had such issues with adults helping we would not have seen it without the scope. Once my husband & I reshaped the holes to accommodate the main gear shafts and hole posts we thought we got it - WRONG then the "spring coil" of the solar panel came off the positive side. I honestly think the film covering on the solar panel was what was holding it in place it appeared to be somewhat corroded looking at it under the scope so no solar panel to use to test our bot now. Our scouts are learning the lessons of trial and errors to the highest degree at this point. As 2 older adults who work on electronic parts this robot is a bust! Stay clear of it and do not purchase it for use with children or if you easily are frustrated. It is cheaply made and you need to have exacto blades, files and wire clippers on hand for all the components that do not fit correctly either pre-fab or snipped from the kit supplies. Oh and by the way we still won't and don't know if it ever will/would work due to the solar panel solder defect. Not for the faint of heart.

This toy is a complete disappointment. Assembling it is nearly impossible without special tools. The plastic parts are of very poor quality, and due to this, the electrical components don't work properly. There's too much friction, and some of the wheels don't even move. Stickers... can't even stick them without tweezers. Avoid this toy. nothing to enjoy at all.
