The pros This obd2 reader is more than basic code reader and scanner that you get at the autoparts store around the same price. It's feature rich with detailed information It's loaded with detailed power train information and sensor relearn,abs bleed, battery resets. It comes in very nice caseThe device seems to be well built and rugged enough to take a little abuse. So the buttons are firm. Updates via wifiThe cons. Iv used this on 2 vehicles so far and it doesn't do the automatic vehicle detection.It will show the Vin automatically and that's it.When plugging in you have to manually select your vehicle specs.This isn't a deal breaker for me but one vehicle I was working didn't have the engine specs nowhere on the engine or the body and this one vehicle comes with 3 different engine combinations. Not knowing the specific engine to put in was a chalange, even the owner didn't know which engine was in the car.If doesn't have a touch screen or a internal batteryEven if you set the language for English some of the measurement are still in metric.The device isn't snappy fast.Different screens take a few seconds to pull up.Overall, for the price, the amount data this unit shows and it's special features you can't beat it.For me the pro's outweighs the cons by far.Iv had few scanners in the past and this blows all of them out the water.

Like I read in other reviews it is just a little slow compared to a professional code scanner but for someone like me that tries to fix as many issues with my vehicle as I can on my own it works great. I didn’t read the instructions so it took me a little while to figure out how it all worked but I’m sure if I actually took the time the directions would have been helpful. The display is good quality and it feels like it’s built pretty well and also comes with a really nice case to keep it in. It doesn’t have everything you’d get in a professional grade scanner and doesn’t have every vehicle in its system but for someone like me it does everything I would need it to. Anything that I wouldn’t be able to find out with it or by testing components manually is better left to the professionals in my opinion even with my few years working as a basic mechanic.

1) Upon receiving the unit I noticed that while the device has a charging port for a wall adapter no adapter was supplied with it - should I have received a charger with it or not, if not why is there a charging port?2) Speaking of charging, is there a rechargeable battery in this device? The product description gives the impression there is, yet the device only seems to power up only when attached to the OBD2 port or a USB port. How does one tell the status of the internal battery? Which leads to my next question, where's the power switch?3) There is no ON/OFF switch! Why? How am I to review offline stored DTC codes that are "Printed" to PDF files internally to the unit unless I can turn it ON? If nothing else, add a Key Button combination (such as Fn+OK) that can both turn ON and turn OFF the device.4) I tried to upgrade the device via Wi-Fi (preferred method per manual) but there was a problem, while it found my router, the Virtual Keyboard does not include most special characters (such as !, @, $, %, &. etc) that I use as part of my normal Wi-Fi password. I can't log the IF-745 into my Wi-Fi due to the lack of keyboard characters (and I won't be changing my password to accommodate the IF-745)! Fix this by adding all normal/special characters to the Virtual Keyboard!5) In attempting to update the software via a USB-PC connection (per manual) I found no specific reference for the IF-745 device on the BC website, however, there is a reference link for the IFIX-701 DIY Update Client V10.0 software, but no link for any manual. Also, there is a reference for an IFIX-750 device, but there is no link for either the software or a manual for an IFIX-745. At this point I decided to give up on trying to update the device (I'm a little nervous about down loading/running software from a problematic source). Please either add the proper device models or remove the improper references.6) Finally, getting in touch with BC has been a challenge since there are two different emails listed for contacting BC but neither seems to be an active link, so I hope this message reaches them.They knew this would happen an did it when the warranty was bout to be up so u could not return or exchange due to there network server would not connect to the Bosscomm.net to get the updates that's needed
