„SIGNALS“? Jepp, ich habe es rauf und runter gehört, das Debüt der automatischen Ladies aus L.A.! Schuldig im Sinne der Anklage! Zu rumpelig, urig minimalistisch und von ursprünglicher Ungeschliffenheit stolperte sich das halbe Stündchen ins Stammhirn. Ich habe es geliebt!Ziemlich zufällig kam ich nun neulich auf den Trichter, mal zu schauen, ob es bei den L.A.dies was Neues zu verbuchen gibt und siehe da, da steht doch inzwischen frischer Post-Punk im Postschrank. „EXCESS“ lautet der Titel des neuen Albums und die Damen Glaudini, Saxon und Dompé setzen tatsächlich noch einen drauf!Geblieben ist aber zunächst das Zusammenspiel aus knurriger Bassgitarre, analogen Synth-Spreiseln (des Moog i gern – auch wenn's ned amoi a' Moog is', oda do? ;)), aufreizend monoton daher klappernden Rumpelbeats und den mal unterkühlt abwesenden, gelegentlich auch görenhaft-bissigen Lead-Vocals.Auf den ersten Eindruck scheint nicht viel dran am Huhn, doch der Schein trügt. Die Mehrzahl der 10 Songs gräbt sich schneller ins Ohr als man „Ian Curtis“ sagen kann. Der Joy-Division-Faktor ist extrem hoch, die pointiert gesetzten Akzente in den Songs sitzen und im Vergleich zum Debüt nimmt sich das Trio jetzt auch Zeit, die Songs vernünftig auszuspielen. Statt kurzen Häppchen von 2 Minuten 30 oder weniger, wagt man sich nur noch zwei Mal knapp unter die Drei-Minuten-Marke. Wen wundert es, dass „AUTOMATON“, mit seinen 5 Minuten und 12 Sekunden, auch gleichzeitig eines der Glanzstücke des Albums darstellt?Ein flotter und vor allem kurzweiliger Ritt bleibt „EXCESS“ allemal! Automatic geben sich nicht nur Mühe wie eine Band aus 1979 zu klingen, sie tun es auch und liefern einen ebenso lässigen wie bockstarken Nachfolger zu „SIGNALS“ ab, der trotz gewolltem Minimalismus in allen Belangen noch eine Schippe draufpackt! Angesichts dieser Klänge war ich selten so glücklich mich alt zu fühlen! Post-Punk-Herz, was willst du mehr?P.S.:Leider besitze ich keinen Plattenspieler (aus Gründen) aber ich könnte mir vorstellen, dass diese Scheibe auf Vinyl nochmal eine ganze Schippe charmanter wirkt, als sie es auf der ebenfalls schon sehr nett aufgemachten CD tut, welche ganz nach alter Bauart mit einem Wrapper daherkommt, wie man ihn früher auch von Musikkassetten kannte.
Excelente banda.
ATENCIÓN, Bolo: deberías empacar mejor los productos frágiles como son los discos compactos, es una pena que (casi) siempre lleguen rotas o quebradas las cajas.Ahora sí: excelente trío musical 😁 Tuve la oportunidad de verlas en vivo y tocan muy bien. El segundo disco tiene lo suyo, al igual que el primero, para mí ambos se complementan.
