The plastic battery holder broke in half. I chose this particular one because of the ratings and to my delight, I found them to be accurate. It is a well made device that seems rugged enough to survive the occasional fall from the table saw. I especially like how it “knows” the measurement it’s setting on when it’s turned on, making the need to zero it before every measurement unnecessary, unless you find it hard to trust- after using one that required zeroing for 15 years.There is also no way to shut it off. It turns itself off, again something hard to get used to.The magnetic base works well and it’s a tool I’d definitely purchase again if I have a need.

Like this for setting up router bits. Easy to read display. Nice features. Solidly built. My only complaint is the machined step block edges and corners are very sharp to the point I was concerned I might cut myself. Took a micro file and eased the sharpness. Very pleased with this item.

Used to set my table saw blade height and router table height. Accurate, repeatable. Makes making dados cuts and rabbits much more repeatable. Unit has an auto off, once you're done just set it to the side. It has kept its zero well as well, but if it doesn't it's easy to reset zero with a single button press. Reads in both metric/standard decimal and fractions of standard.

Magnetic base is nice and depth of reach is very handy for setting router bit height as well as fence depth. Repeatability is .001"-.005" as you can get a little sway from the arm length. I find it to be much more repeatable when lowering using the center of the dial gauge and repeat this several times to ensure repeatability in the .001" range. Works great for perfect rabbet joints and Lock miter bits where you need exact settings. I also like the value of placing the base against the fence on the table for setting depth in that direction. Much better than trying to use a dial caliper. Highly recommend!

I used to use a ruler, then make a test cut until I got the blade height just right, with this tool you zero it out, set the measurement you want, lock it with the thumb screw, and adjust the blade until it's just touching the bar. Saves a ton of time and gives me more accurate cut depths.
