Description:
With Just Like That... , Bonnie Raitt's first new album in more than six years, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer continues to draw on the range of influences that have shaped her legendary career, while creating something that speaks to the circumstances and challenges of these unprecedented times. The mix of sounds and approaches on Just Like That... reveals how, fifty years after the release of her debut album, Bonnie Raitt continues to personify what it means to stay creative, adventurous, and daring over the course of a life's work. "On this record, I wanted to stretch," she says. "I always want to find songs that excite me, and what's different this time is that I've tried some styles and topics I haven't touched on before." Twenty-one albums in, Bonnie Raitt has never felt more grateful that she can continue making music, contributing to causes, keeping her crew working, and connecting with her audience. "I'm really aware of how lucky I am," Raitt says, "I feel like my responsibility is to get out there and say something fresh and new-for me and for the fans."

Great album. Was not disappointed , but I never am . I have almost all of her albums.
5.0 out of 5 stars This One Will Grow On You!
Having been a big Bonnie Raitt fan for almost 50 years, I was very excited to see "Just Like That..." on the NYT's list of Best Albums of 2022, so I ordered it right away. Admittedly, my first impression was lukewarm, and it kind of fell by the wayside after a few listens. When it won the Grammys a month or so later, I decided that I must have been missing something and circled back. Now I give it a listen just about everyday and my appreciation for her masterful talent there just keeps growing. Most of the songs here are knockouts. Her voice and guitar playing are amazingly subtle. The band and arrangements are perfect. This is for me one of her very finest albums, and I own or have owned a dozen or more hers on vinyl, cassette and CD. I've also been fortunate to see her live on numerous (lost count) occasions, starting with two shows in the 1970s at the Paramount Theater in Portlandia (opening acts, if you can believe it, were Muddy Waters and Tom Waits!). Most recently I caught her at the 2019 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. If you like Bonnie's records, then I highly recommend you catch one of her live shows, she will not disappoint. Enjoy!
4.0 out of 5 stars Had slightly higher hopes
I love Bonnie Raitt's music and really looked forward to this album because of her Grammy Award-winning song "Just Like That." It is, indeed, a nice song. However, the other songs on the album did not show much variation or individuality, so it is hard to enjoy listening to the entire album at one time. Instead, I load them on an MP3 player and listen to them in shuffle mode.
5.0 out of 5 stars glad to have you back
Bonnie Raitt – Just Like That… (Redwing)An exceptional album after a six year wait from vocalist/songwriter/slide guitarist Bonnie Raitt, combining 70s R&B, straight blues, and some elements of soft rock and even folk.Bonnie is in good form and the songs are among the best that she’s ever done. A very consistent album, with no weak spots. All ten songs are equally strong. Solos are understated and vital to the progress of each song, whether they be Bonnie’s subtle slide or the wonderful organ statement on “Waitin’ for You to Blow”.One can hear a strong comparison to Susan Tedeschi, both as a solo act and with the Tedeschi-Trucks Band (only without horns). Their voices are markedly similar. Also, one can make comparisons to a hornless, late period Joe Cocker (the song style, not the voice) and even solo Steve Stills. It was too long a wait, but it was also worth the wait.(5 stars out of 5)MC Mahan
5.0 out of 5 stars Old School Bonnie
I've been a fan of Bonnie for over 50 years. I even sat at her band table at The Joyous Lake in Woodstock during spring break "73. We were the last two that the door guy let in and it was the only place left to sit! I love all her albums from the 70s, especially Give It Up and Takin' My Time. Some of her albums over the years can be pretty hit or miss, but this just has a great feel and sits comfortably with my favorites of hers. It has a warmth that sometimes has been missing. I highly recommend this album, not just to Bonnie fans, but to everybody who appreciates really good music.
