I purchased these to make participation awards for a Kids Fun run at a local 5K event. The kids absolutely loved getting the "medal" as they crossed the finished line. They were showing them off to everybody. Even the adults loved the inserts with our organizations logo inside. They were easy to make, but FOLLOW THE OPENING INSTRUCTIONS. It seems silly, but tapping the plastic disk on a hard surface really does cause the center to pop right out. It will make your project quick and easy.

The media could not be loaded. After spending at least 10 frustrating minutes trying to open just one of these frames, I almost sent these things back!The other opening instructions seemed conflicting and none of them worked for me. My goofy neighbor showed up and within 30 seconds had one opened! Here’s how …My first mistake was thinking these were like a clamshell that would open like a ladies compact. They’re not.The center disk pops out completely leaving a round frame. Along with the video, here’s the secret…One side of the unopened disk is flat, the other beveled.1: Hold the disk by the tab that connects the cord.2: Sharply tap the opposite edge of the disk BEVEL SIDE DOWN onto the table.3: After a few taps the center should pop out cleanly.Hopefully the video attached showing the procedureSlight learning curve but once this was figured out, we were able to open all but one quickly.Good luck!

I made do and printed, and hand cut my own inserts opposed to using the supplied inserts. Disappointed that the supplied inserts were not printer friendly as they were not on a full sheet of paper but already cut in small circles. They were VERY hard to open and had to smack them hard on the table which I was worried I would leave a dent. That's how hard it was to open. Once they were open and I re assembled, they were cute. Honestly a lot of work for purchasing something that I thought would make things easier.

These are great! Very easy to open if you follow directions found here in the comments. Thank you to the reviewer who posted a video - super helpful! One side of the medal opens, the other doesn't. I flipped them upside down so that the side that opens was facing down. Then I tapped them (with some force) on the edge of my counter until the disc fell out. A few good raps usually did the job. I docked a star because the included straps are very short. I tied them with as little excess at the ends as possible and it still didn't just slide right over my 7-year-old's head.
Bonitas y útiles.
A pesar de que al recibirlas sentí que era difícil abrirlas, al encontrar la forma correcta fue fácil, son rápidas de personalizar y útiles en diversas ocasiones. Tuve que cambiar el listón pues me parecía un poco difícil meterlas a la cabeza,bya que el listón con el que viene es muy pequeño.
Super difficult to get open
I bought these so I could make personal awards for me and my friends, as we were doing a fun little award ceremony at thing. Lemme just say I spent an hour trying to figure out how these stupid things open. (On the one side the center circle falls out, you have to bang it on the wall she of a table a couple times, not too hard or they crack but hard enough that the middle falls out. Look carefully to see which side your banging, cause one side opens and the other doesn’t). As for the medals themselves they were super cute and fun to personalize myself, it took a long time cause there was so many but it was also super fun! Since my friends and I are older teens they did not fit around our necks, they were way too small, only suitable for children. I didn’t really care about that tho cause it was all fun and games and we just put them around our wrists. However if your looking for something that will fit, do not get them. I gave this product 4 stars, cause at the end of the day nothing is wrong with them, minor things made me upset but at the end of the day a medal is a medal, and that’s what these are.
Very nice but tricky to open
These are perfect for creating your own custom medal. Because of their design they look very professional, almost no seems. This also means that opening them to put in your design is a bit tricky. Follow the directions on the Bolo listing. Use force and gravity to get them out. The ribbon is exactly what you'd expect of a dollar store medal.
