Take your time, you don't want to accidentally poke a screwdriver through the circuit board. I spent over an hour carefully taking the old remote apart. Inserting guitar picks or something similar to hold it open where you've already pried helps.Very pleased at the quality. As good if not better than OEM. The only thing missing is the VW logo sticker. I found you can transfer the VW logo sticker from the old remote to the new:1) carefully cut the plastic of the old keyfob backing around the sticker with side cuts so one side of the sticker is no longer indented2) heat the opposite side of the plastic a bit with a lighter to soften the adhesive3) carefully slide a razor blade under the logo sticker, the heated glue will separate and it'll peel off4) position on the new key fob carefully and press down hard for a few seconds. I found I didnt need to glue it, but if you do a drop of gorilla glue will workFor the price this is an excellent value and saved me hundreds of dollars vs the OEM replacement

I was hesitant to buy these due to some of the reviews. After receiving them and taking some time to do the work I was able to get both key fobs replaced in an hour or so. If you are not familiar with taking electronics apart expect it to take a little longer. If I had any complaint it would be the locking mechanism for holding the key part in place it’s not as springy or solid as the OEM but that’s not really a problem in my eyes as this is an aftermarket part and I’m using the old bracket not the new one provided. Don’t listen to half of the bad reviews, as long as you double check the fitment for your particular key fob they will work.

It's not exactly the same as OEM, but it's a decent replacement shell with a minor installation modification needed.The spring needs some added torque in order for the blade flip-out function to work. After lining up the spring tabs into the appropriate notches, you'll need to gently hold the two halves of the shell together with a gap between them and give one of them a full spin to put some torque on the spring before connecting the halves together.

The key fob is high quality and feels great, however it is NOT the same as the original key. The blade and button are differently shaped. I found this out after I had to destroy the old fob getting it apart (It feels like VW glued the original one together!). The blade would not fit through the hole. I widened the hole a bit with a file, but then the latch mechanism is shaped differently.Only buy this if you're planning to have the blade cut. Otherwise if you're just looking to replace your buttons or spruce up your key fob, steer clear.

Feels nice and solid. Everything snapped together well and holds firmly. If reusing your old blade, you may have to do minor filing to get it to fit.

Everything fit perfect but old key push button was bigger than the hole and configured a little different. So I have a blank key. Update, the mk 7 keys are put in with a roll pin. I took both keys apart and put old key on new fob, perfect fit all good now.

Once apart, the computer chip was easily placed into the new fob assembly and the original key was installed on the new fob.If you are capable, and the computer chip is still working, I highly recommend you follow my lead on this...
