You're probably buying this because your work doesn't allow a wireless keyboard and you need a useable ten keyless form factor. Until the TKL MS sculpt has a wired version, this is the next best thing.After using this for 120 hours now, if you use the current MS ergo wired keyboards, the 4000 or LXM, this will feel familiar. Very happy with the purchase given how much I type.Pre-requisite: ergo posture...poor upper extremity posture will negate so many of the benefits, typically to rest shoulders, elbows at 90 * to 120* at sides, forearms parallel to ground or a bit declined. For instance, one has to know that it's not really ideal to use the decline riser if the working keyboard height is above the elbow at neutral because it'll cause you to shrug your shoulders and be uncomfortable to your forearms and wrist and likely cause unintended discomfort. That's not really the keyboard's fault.Pros:-ten key less! you can really center your keyboard and have room on either side for mouse without out that wasted space (that is, if you don't use the ten key)-accomplishes ergonomics by reducing ulnar deviation (pinky bending towards elbow) with a good size split, by reducing supination (forcing thumbs to horizontal) with the slight rise in the middle, and by reducing wrist extension (fingertips raised above wrist) with the removable decline insert. feels as good and natural as the many ergo keyboards i've used through the years.- split space bars usually take so much less key force to depress than a single one. The MS 4000 was notorious for having a difficult space bar. Plus it's a flatter space bar profile.- good key spacing for the most part, low learning curve.- not clacky like the ms 4000, but not particularly quiet either.- page nav keys are in one vertical column, which i found natural.Cons:- not backlit- the chiclet keys are super flat and slick. I'm used to DSA profile keys with a scooped middle which really helps your fingers to securely land. Even my laptop has somewhat of a scooped key. I got used to this after a while, but it's more of tolerating it vs. enjoying the flat keys. I'd say it's more of a neutral con then a true negative. I notice it but not bothered by it.- extended plastic wristpad stays cleaner than the cloth or leather pads, but is not particularly enjoyable. it's not uncomfortable at all, but I had been using a gel keyboard palm rest for a straight keyboard and the comfort difference is huge.- the right shift key is 2/3 of normal, so it takes a bit to not overshoot it. luckily the next key is the up arrow, which is relatively harmless. It's easy to get used to it.The middle scroll is a bit useless, which is why many ergo keyboards ditched those. I wish it could be tied to volume or scrolling tabs without 3rd party software.For the price, you can't go wrong. Plus, the mouse it comes with is light, smooth matte finish, and has forward backwards nav buttons and has the standard ergo angle that keeps the wrist from getting smashed, but I don't use it in lieu of a trackball.Very happy with the purchase. If they ever go with a backlit version with softer palm pad and DSA style scooped keys, I'd pay extra for it.

First impression: not the most perfect keyboard ever, but very good for the size and price point. My 12 year old MS 4000 still works like a champ, but is too wide for the pull out keyboard drawer in my desk. This keyboard fits in the drawer and leaves room for the mouse, too. The keys have a good feel when depressed. Ideally, I'd like them to be concave instead of flat. The right side Shift key is smaller than I'm used to, so my finger slips off it. I don't do a lot of numeric entry, so moving my hand to the separate 10 key pad when needed is fine.

I wanted to love this keyboard badly enough that I actually managed to make it work for me.However, while it’s totally serviceable, I don't know if love is what would describe my feelings toward this keyboard.Right out of the box this keyboard has major issues. Sper long 7, T, N, H, L Shift keys which would stick in the corners due to for whatever reason not being stabilized.Clipping the corners of the box switches, created a wobbly which helped clear the corner when pressing it down with such leverage. I also lubed all the switches with vaseline as some of the better switch lubes contain silicone so they’re no good for membranes. That barely alleviated anything and also made it stick a little in other spots. However I noticed that for a chiclet style keyboard, this thing has a lot of travel. I decided to shorten the travel on the sticking keys by stilting them with toothpicks (method pictured here) which was a 95% fix to the mentioned issue but made them feel too short compared to the other keys so what did I do? I shortened the key travel on all of the keys.What did I end up with? A perfectly serviceable ergonomic keyboard with easy short travel and a compact layout that reduces excess movement. That all sounds very good but since the keys are stilted on those rubber domes, it has increased how rubbery the board feels over all. I wouldn’t call it bad, but it is a little weird to get used to. Solution to this and to the additional wobble stilting produced is to get thin plastic shims and glue them in place to the button of the key caps. This is what I will eventually do and that should definitely improve things. But the other thing I will do is add stabilizers to the weirdly long keys they’ve gone with on some of these letters.I really love the design and layout of this keyboard, I actually like it more than the microsoft surface because of how portable it is. But unfortunately in it;s current implementation, I would never recommend this to anyone unless they were willing to do some enthusiast level modding to get it tip top. Out of the box, it’s not even usable IMHO.I really beseech Perixx to revisit the hardware choices they made for the switches in this keyboard and consider scissor switches or even compact mechanical switches of some sort because this keyboard would be totally killer if it worked.PS: I definitely voided the warranty on this thing to get it to work.
Best replacement for the Microsoft Sculpt
I used a Microsoft Sculpt keyboard for years and was disappointed when it was discontinued and mine stopped working. Bought this one as a replacement, and it’s been fantastic. Takes a little getting used to and I hit the caps lock button accidentally quite a lot. But it feels a lot like my old keyboard and works great. If it’s your first time using this style of ergonomic keyboard it’s going to feel super weird for a while but eventually you won’t want to use anything else. Excellent positioning and support for wrists and shoulders. Still works great for gaming as well.

Sides are abruptly made straighter, puts more strain on hands and wrists.Why not return:1. Still better than non-split, traditional ones.
Wobbly front raiser, hard plastic hand support, 2 types of batteries, tiny mouse
I ordered this set in the hope it would help my RSI and let me put the mouse closer to the keyboard as it was ten-key-less, but I was so disappointed when saw the hard plastic hand rest, but even if that was a disappointment, I was hoping the front raiser to be decent enough to compensate for the extremely short traveling distance chiclet keys...The raiser has a bad design as it has 3 points of support, one in the dead center, but about 1 cm apart from the raiser body, while the corners of the keyboard have no support, giving the feeling of it might break in half if I were to put on the weight of may hands on the keyboard...Then comes the fact they keyboard uses 2 AAA batteries, while the mouse uses 1 AA.Add the mouse is very small, while any small move is accelerated right away, making it unusable for me.I sent it back in spite of its split layout design and TKL layout...
