Of the matte varnishes I've tried on models, AK has so far been the best. Flat coat, fairly durable, doesn't frost or get clumped up. Excellent product for adding the finishing touches to a group of models you plan on playing with, or just want to preserve their look. Reduces the brightness of the colors a bit, and reduces the shine, but sort of brings up the duller colors so that all of the colors on the model meet in the middle and look like they belong together. Another thing it does is even out some of the textures and smooths things out. Just note that once you varnish a model, you will slightly alter the way it looks, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you want the end results to look. As long as you plan for that ahead of time, it all looks right in the end. This is the can I reach for when doing a squad or two for KillTeam/Warcry. Using this to finish painted miniatures. Coats evenly in a single application, dries evenly and provides a smooth, hard, non-tacky finish. Would definitely buy again. Make sure you dry outdoors or somewhere with good ventilation because there is a very strong smell during drying, but that is expected with varnishes.
