Not much of a reviewer, but given there are very few reviews for this non-OEM Samsung counter-depth ice maker replacement, I thought it might be helpful to anyone that may be considering this item. My initial review is 5 stars, I will update that accordingly if/as necessary over the coming months+.First, I have to say that we have had multiple Samsung appliances within the past decade (refrigerators, washers, dryers). We have moved, so and was not alway possible to take these items with us. Our experience has been that while they offer a lot of features, convenience and eye pleasing esthetics – generally, something breaks within a few years of service. While it is almost always replaceable by the owner, expect $100 or more to buy the needed part. We may not be Samsung customers next time around.About the aftermarket ice maker…The build seems to be of good quality and after removing the broken part, easily fit back into the intended spot. The only noted differences, are that the bottom portion of the OEM ice maker is made of metal, while this one is almost all plastic. Also, the wiring harness does not have a clip, it simply slides in (tightly). I’m not really sure either of these matter, nor do I expect that they will impact longevity of the unit. As shown in the picture, after a night of doing its thing, we again have ice. Hope it keeps working longer than the OEM part did, which only lasted 3 years. I agree with another reviewer that the bottom piece that swings up and down to allow clearance for the fridge mounted freezing tube was a little difficult to close upon installation. Don't force it, it will close if with just a little pressure (similar to what is required to pull down on the one being replaced), and you will be able to put the screw that hold it back in place.NOTE: if you are not careful in removing the old ice maker and installing the new one, you can potentially damage the entire refrigerator beyond repair. Please be sure to watch any of the numerous YouTube videos on how to make the switch.As mentioned, I’ll update my review from time to time to let folks know how the new ice maker is continuing to perform.

Working well after the installation. It is the fourth ice maker for my Samsung refrigerator. The heating element burns out and the unit stops dispensing ice. The last one lasted about a year. I hope this one lasts a little longer.The price was decent and the part was delivered as promised.

This was fairly easy to install using YouTube examples. 2 screws, unplug, slide out and slide in.It began making ice and I’m back in business.I still have a slight problem removing the new ice bucket I replaced when the orignal fell apart while removing when frozen solid. All these third party parts say they fit, but, not perfectly.One thing I do know is I will not buy another Samsung refrigerator. They should replaced everyone’s faulty ice maker for free with a recall. They did not and choose to make more money on replacement parts instead.

The ice maker came with the wiring plug missing the locking clip, apparently it was snapped off at some point. Still went ahead and installed the unit, and voila, it is making ice.

Get this ice maker and do it yourself! After being stood up by a Samsung repairman with an estimated $600 replacement fee for this icemaker, I decided to just put the thing in myself. Found a YouTube video watched it and in under 30 minutes. It was replaced. Basically two screws and a plug. Now I'm just sitting here trying to figure out what cool stuff I'm gonna spend the $420 I saved on.
Solved our ice maker problems
As advertised, works perfectly for now , hopefully will last
