It’s become the heart of my Dawless set up.
This device is allot of fun. This has the easy to use interface of the Novation circuit, with some user friendly sampling capabilities. I would dare to say that I like it more then the Novation tracks.
Yea. So i chose the Rhythm over the Tracks
I could see myself getting tired of another FM synth based whatever. If i were to purchase the Circuit Tracks then i immidiatly loose 2 tracks (midi) and am forced to purchace more external gear (wires, adaptors, connectors etc). Purchasing the Tracks would mean purchasing more stuff after purchasing the tracks. So, i've just purchased the Rhythm (one and done; the rest is up to me). With the Rhythm i get 4 hours with me, myself and i without wires; just the internal battery and a set of headphones. Don't forget about the price.There's plenty of content on youtube regarding what can be done with either device. Fun but flawed
I like a lot of things about this. The interface is fast and intuitive. The slice mode is very good. And you can do a clunky but workable version of parameter locking. I like how small and sturdy it is and it's great having an internal battery. And the pads feel great. That said, I think you'd have to go back to the late 90s phrase samplers to find something as slow when it comes to saving samples. And I really don't understand why a 10 or so megabyte pack takes 7 minutes to transfer over USB C. Then there's the low resolution of the sequencer. Maybe I've been spoiled by Elektron sequencers but 6 microsteps per step is just not great. The MIDI implementation is pretty bad, as well. I tried to sequence it from my Digitakt but it takes a step for it to listen to a CC message. I figured that this might be the case with parameters like sample choice but this applies to other things like filter settings. All that said, it's a mixed bag. It is genuinely fun to use but there are some serious flaws with it that I think people should know about before purchasing.
Great product but Amazon made the experience bad
I love the circuit workflow. I have the circuit tracks and wanted to get the circuit rhythm to use with it.Unfortunately Bolo screwed up and sent me a very used product. I returned it quickly and now I've been waiting for a refund for more than three weeks. I keep asking Bolo what's going on and they don't know. Their associates keep telling me to wait just one more week and the refund will be issued. I'm still waiting. **UPDATE** Bolo finally refunded my money, one month after I returned the product.**I'm done ordering big ticket items from Bolo. This was the last straw. I went to a non-Bolo physical store and purchased a new novation circuit rhythm. I love it!
Greatest Sampler Ever
Most importantly, if you are seeing the Circuit Rhythm still listed for 299, you might want to get it, because elsewhere online it appears to have gone back up to 399 for some reason. This is a good item to consider getting used, because the knobs do not wear out easily, and they are very flush for extra protection against something like a drink getting spilled on it. I have the Akai MPC LIVE which has the maximum amount of features that a sampler could have, as far as I am concerned. However, at a fraction of the price, this Novation is wildly more comfortable, not just in my lap, but the knobs feel better and the matte texture on the MPC is a very thin layer of rubber coating that wears away quickly. This Novation is not painted. The rubber on the knobs is thick, again, not a coating or cheap facade. The box is made out of materials that are the color they are forever, it doesn't collect dust, and you could totally wipe it down with a wet washcloth probably without even turning it off. It feels like a cozy notepad compared to the MPC which could only be called compact if it was a VCR machine.Aside from the price and layout, the rest of this device is fully designed with the same thoughtfulness. I have used a little SP202 Boss sampler, a couple of versions of the SP404, multiple generations of Akai samplers, and other assorted samplers from the boutique brands, but this is the first one to really strip down a sampler to the essential features, and build more features onto that. I have been using this for weeks now and still never even needed to open the manual yet. This is the concept of a sampler boiled to the teeth, and loaded with little game-changing features like "Mutate," "Probability," and a whole separate feature for playing your programmed notes in random order. This might be the greatest groovebox or sampler of all time.
