(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } At the last appointment with my dentist, she recommended that I purchase an electric toothbrush in particular this model. Admittedly I am way far behind, one might say in the dinosaur age even, of jumping on the electric toothbrush band wagon. spread (Electric toothbrushes were originally introduced wide spread in the 1960's with Oral-B's rotating oscillating bristle toothbrush in the 2020's---just a fun fact!). But it is time; my teeth and gums need the extra technical, sophisticated, digital TLC that I can/could never achieve with hand brushing. So, I proceeded with the dentist's recommendation and purchased this Oral-B iO Series 6. Not wanting to venture any further into the land of dental hi-tech, I avoided the series 8, 9, 10, and what other stratospheric numbers exist as the series 6 seemed quite manageable. I sat down and read the included pamphlet in its entirety (that was a task almost requiring a magnifying glass as the print was so small). I completely understood the warnings, safety instructions, diagrams and most of the more basic instructions and tips, but there comes a point when a leap of faith is required and I had reached it. After charging 24 hours, I reviewed what to do the first use and away I went. It is programed to give instructions in English and a multitude of other languages. Once brushing begins a light changes from a color that you program to green when you have done a good job. There is a beep when two minutes have elapsed alerting that you have brushed recommended time; you are then rewarded with a smiley face! Clever, yes? Positive reinforcement goes along way no mater one's age or activity! My teeth have never felt so clean after a brushing; they actually felt as smooth as when the dental hygienist had cleaned them. Information states that teeth will bee 100% cleaner with healthier gums in one week of use; that is something to look forward to, for sure! I am certain as time goes on, as more experience is gained, and as more is learned about this technical, dental marvel I will be a brushing whiz and hopefully make my dentist proud! This toothbrush is a corded, rechargeable electric toothbrush that has a pressure sensor to aid in prevention of gum damage, a front digital screen recording brushing time and battery level, 5 cleaning settings listed as Daily Clean, Sensitive, Whitening, Gum Care and Intense Clean (for personal customization). It is described as "travel size" and comes with a carrying case for easy packing and extra protection because after all this is not $1.27 toothbrush! One replacement toothbrush is included, and of course others are available for purchase; the recommendation is to change the brushing head every 3 months.Agreed, the price seems very expensive but two things come to mind. The first is if this electric toothbrush and the owner do their jobs, the toothbrush will pay for itself in one dentist visit. Secondly, remember that you get what you pay for; I think I have paid for a wonderfully, helpful, needed, top notch toothbrush that I look forward to using well, for as long as I am around! Enjoy...you deserve it!Top 3 Likes:-Excellent quality by respected brand-Teeth are clean, really clean-!00% cleaner in one week with less plaque and healthier gums-Digital feedback helps prevent gum damage, ensures adequate brushing time and rewards a job well doneTop 3 Dislikes:-The tiny printing in the fold-over pamphlet is very difficult to read-Concern using an electric appliance near a sink (but no different than a hair dryer or electric razor, is it?)-The charging base is not much wider around than the actual brush raising stability concerns

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Toothbrush, Disappointing Travel Case
The Oral-B iO Series 6 toothbrush delivers a fantastic cleaning experience, making your teeth feel like they've been professionally cleaned. It offers multiple modes like Gum Care, Whitening, and Intense Clean, providing customization based on your needs. The digital feedback and pressure sensor help protect gums and ensure proper brushing time. However, the case is a major letdown—it's cheaply made from plastic, doesn't securely hold the brush, and looks flimsy. I should’ve paid more attention to the images. The charging system also isn’t travel-friendly since you need the cord to charge it, unlike my previous Sonicare case. I hope the battery life lasts as advertised.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great technology
I have used the Oral B power toothbrushes for years. From my experience and what I read at credible sources, it can be more effective than a "manual" toothbrush. My old one was okay but old and got this new one, IO6. Oral B makes it difficult to choose a model, they have too many models at different prices with subtle differences in features ("bells and whistles") and claimed effectiveness, different models claiming different percentage improvements over manual brushes. I'm sure many of the features on the more expensive models are liked or needed by some people but I found what I needed at this model's level and price. What ever toothbrush you use, every dentist and oral surgeon will tell you: Use the "gentle" or "soft" brushes. That, and a light touch, to avoid damaging gums (worse than cavities!), and spend enough time going over the teeth, then it's all good.So this model has dramatically newer technology than my previous one. The old one seems rattly in comparison, this new one hums smoothly at a very high frequency, so should get bristles into more crannies and gaps, all else equal. The IO models are highly rated at Consumer Reports, but they are in good company with several other brands and models. I chose this one as solid and effective and with the features I want and will use at a not-cheap but reasonable price, and I love it. I always spend over 2-minutes brushing, soft/gentle pressure, move slowly so the bristles get into nooks and crannies, and cover all angles, and my dentist and dental hygienist always remark how clean and healthy things look. Slow and gentle, with soft/gentle brushes, and this new, higher-frequency technology is great.Only drawback is that the handle is visually attractive but smooth and (when brushing, everything wet and sometimes foamy), it gets slippery and slide out of my grip, they should add a bulge at both ends of the handle. I tried to convey that to the manufacturer but they only have contact points for user questions that are answered by drones with boilerplate for common questions, it was too much for them to forward my inputs to their marketing or design departments. Oh well... But while the handle is better for looks (yawn) than using it, it remains an excellent product and very good for dental care, so 5-stars.
So far so good
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Recently comparing to the phillips sonicare it looks like this iO series from Oral B is the clear winner. The Phillips has issues at this time so I disqualified it - reviews are terrible - seems a major quality control problem. As Alberta dentists are the most $$$ in North America I feel it wise to have one of each brand, and believe each has its merits.I've used this new Oral B toothbrush for a week now with both the regular (Ultimate Clean) and soft (Gentle Care) heads. After 3 days of using the regular brush heads I feel like it is going to carve and scrape up my gums till their all gone. Extremely aggressive. So I think I'll be using the soft head for 6 days a week, and maybe the regular head once a week for a better more aggressive cleaning. Gives a good cleaning with the soft head on "gum care" mode. The iO heads are very large but that's ok for me being a guy, might take a while for others to get used to it, or it might be simply too large for others. The heads are quite pricey so tempted to take a star off for that, but I'll be a bit generous and give them a 5 star as I have seen no issues. The older sonicare charger from 10 yrs ago had a UV light - I miss that - would be good if the iO charger had the UV light for disinfecting the head. Almost impossible to tell the diff b/w the 2 iO head types but I do see a small symbol where a square is for the regular head and a cloud is for the soft head - strange way to ID these to say the least. Haven't used the phone app yet to see if that is handy or not.

Me encantó
Awful battery life
Bought this in January 2023. It worked wonderfully the first year, but this year the problems started. Charging times kept getting longer and longer, while the charge lasted less and less. The last time it managed to charge, it took 12 hours!! just to go from 36% to 43%. I used it until it fully discharged, thinking it might fix the problem by starting from scratch, but no such luck. No matter how long I leave it plugged in, it just won't charge.Don't waste your time or money on this!
Battery died after a few months
The toothbrush was good but after a few months it would no longer charge properly and I can’t use it.
