This is a very sturdy stool so we are not concerned about it breaking any time soon. Now both our son and daughter use this and it is still as sturdy as it was when we first. got it. It is very compact if you want to store it after every use, however we use it daily so we just leave it opened and ready to use. You cannot adjust the height but our kids are 5 and 3 and can both reach over the sink with this.

This step-stool is solid! I use it all around our house -- it's so handy I bought a second one for our RV. Not only do I use it for reaching things in upper cabinets, but I also use it to sit on when I need to sort things closer to floor level. It can be folded away and has a carry handle. Highly recommend!
