5.0 out of 5 stars Nice quality card ring
So I've been searching for the perfect T5577 ring for the card readers at work. I hate having to dig out my ID card or wear a lanyard only to keeping pulling it out at every door. I like rings, so this was a win/win for me. I initially had one of those R5 rings and while nice having 6 writeable cards, I realized I only really used one. The R5 was big and bulky and only had three sizes. But this ring is super lightweight, very slim and comes in many sizes. It feels like a regular wedding band or something of that size, but lighter. I hardly feel it on my finger. It was easily writeable, and works very well on the the doors here at work. Now I can just fist bump the key lock and I don't have to fumble around for a key card. Looks VERY stylish, has a nice two tone subtle color to it. I highly recommend this ring if you are looking for something like this. The ring size is true to size when ordering, so make sure you measure your finger the correct way. Very happy with this purchase, probably will buy a few more for backups.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works for rfid safe
Was able to program with my safe, and works good so far.
1.0 out of 5 stars Broke in 6 months. Unreliable up until then. Skip this one
First ring I received I could not program. I could not read or write it, with a couple of different devices. Thankfully Bolo makes exchanging it super easy, and I got a replacement the day after I requested it.I had no issue writing a code to the replacement ring, and the first couple of times I used it it worked great. Fast forward a few weeks later, and it still works...usually. I programmed it to work with both a gun safe and the door system at my work.Fortunately, it works much more reliably with the safe, but unlike even the cheapest of key fobs I've tried at my work, it has to be touching the sensor, and even then I often have to run it side to side a few times before it will read it.Overall I'm satisfied, but I wish it were a tad more reliable.UPDATE: Less than 6 months later it broke. Not even sure when it happened. I was sitting at work, and felt it pinching. took it off and there is copper wire exposed on the back and a giant chunk of the ring missing. Add poor durability to its highly unreliable performance.
4.0 out of 5 stars good product if you do your part, but it will break eventually
I used this ring daily. The wrong size was delivered, but was not exchanged as it fit another finger. This is simply part and parcel of Bolo. Unfortunately, it broke after two months.Range is acceptable, though you should expect it to be less than a fob or card. The geometry of a finger ring is less than ideal for RFID, especially with mini mullion readers. It seems durable enough for the price. I would not expect this to survive two years of daily wear. If I get one year out of it I'll be okay with that.As a wearable item you're buying online, you need to verify both the size of your finger and the size of the ring you receive. Spend five dollars on a ring sizing kit with both bands and test rings. Spend a few more on a micrometer. Measure some known-size items, like any USB-A plug (12.0mm wide and 4.5mm thick). Use the micrometer to verify the ring sizing kit. Use the kit to order the size ring you need. Verify the size of the ring received and exchange if incorrect.
5.0 out of 5 stars If this is for work... you are going to want one for each hand. It's worth it.
Worked as expected. Fit was true to size. I'll be getting a few more for my fellow coworkers so we don't have to dig for keycards all the time with full hands moving inventory. I almost did a video for this but pretty sure someone in HR or IT would be hunting me down shortly afterwards lol. It's very slim, easy to forget you're even wearing it. It seems really durable. (I work in an industrial kitchen and it holds up just fine) the range on it is better than my keycard it seems. I like to show off to the new employees by waving my hand over the door sensor while I pretend to use "jedi mind tricks" since the ring is hidden under a glove most of the time.
3.0 out of 5 stars Functional but not durable.
***Update 2023.09***My 2nd one just shattered on me. You can get by gluing the broken edges for a while, but once big chunks start coming off you will loose the chip and functionality. My 2nd ring lasted much longer (about a year), but I was also much more careful with it and got in the habit of taking it off during the day since night time is the only time I need to use it.I'll do a bit more searching, but will probably buy a 3rd ring if I don't find a more durable option.***Original Review***I bought this to use with my quick access safe (I purchased a programmed version). Within a few minutes of opening it I had it programmed into my safe and loving it! You do have to get very close to the scanner, but that is not a negative for me.After a few weeks I noticed a LOT of scratches on the surface of the ring. Not a big deal for me since I bought it for utility, not looks. About 3 months in I noticed a small chip was missing from the edge, which again was not the end of the world. I filled it with some glue and sanded it smooth so it wouldn't rub or cut my finger. At 4 months a HUGE chunk of it broke off, leaving sharp edges on the inside of the ring and a bunch of the copper wire exposed. I am currently seeing if I can get by with some kind of repair.I LOVE the functionality of this thing! With 5 little kids in the house it is great to know that they can't get into my safe, but I can at a moments notice without having to worry about carrying a key, fob, combo code, or finicky biometrics. I don't know if I will purchase a replacement knowing it will only last 4-6 months, but since I don't know of any other similarly priced product that is better constructed out there I am leaning towards yes. Is it worth $8/month?
5.0 out of 5 stars More convenient than a Kay card or fob . . .
I have a keyless door lock on my house and workshop and I programmed this ring to use on these doors. Alto more convenient to open then a key fob or card. Now I just wave my hand.Able to program it in less than a minute and works great.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fist-bump to unlock.
Took me a while to learn how to orient the ring to the reader to make it work (opening of the ring towards the reader), but now I use it almost daily.
Field orientation
I have been using this as my daily for opening doors around work, the only two downsides are:It is pricey for an RFID tag (but I knew that when I bought it)The ring is the coil, makes sense right? But then how do you align the coil with the reader?I've found there is an angle that works okay with most readers but you cannot simply walk up to readers and 'fist bump' them because then the ring is at 90% to the reader and it won't pick up.EDIT: Nearly a year later, it's still working.EDIT EDIT: It is April 2025, it is still, still working.
Unobtrusive and functional
Great item which looks good and functions perfectly.
