It is heavier than it looks but when holding an engine between the two fenders, it does need to be stout.

Needed this to replace my oil pan on my BMW E30 and made life alot easier. It's about the same price as harbor freight and looks like the same quality.

I worked under an engine supported by this bar for several hours while I was preparing the engine for removal. No worries. The feet on the ends of the bar are configurable to fit many engine openings. The engine opening on top of my Boxster does not have parallel sides and this bar fit in the drainage channels with no extra work. The chain hooks are long enough to be secure. The wings on the tightening nuts are large enough to generate torque. All pieces are solidly constructed. Not the cheapest option, but do you really want to work under the cheapest engine support bar?

I have used this a handful of times already and it has worked great. The only issue I did have with this is the washers that come with it seem to bend fairly easy. It's not quite a safety issue but it makes it harder to keep everything lined up when they start to bend. I replaced them with thicker washers and haven't had an issue since.
