5.0 out of 5 stars 100% Honest REAL review from average artist
Had it a week now but Ive been "unable" to just dive into it, theres things i didnt know i should keep in mind. Apologies for the length this might come out to but it sucks to get a new toy and then hardly get to play with it properly right away. So bare with me, im doing this for you lol. I will have an actual review as well at the end.YOU NEED TO CONSIDER CABLE LENGTH AND YOUR SETUP. are you using laptop or desktop, the provided cables are maybe 4ft, limiting how comfortably you can be set up if your rig isnt right next to you. highly recommend having a HDMI male to female extension cable and USB male to female extension cable if your rig is on the floor or further off to the side.*dont get a usb-c to usb-c extension as it wont fit the port on the display, youre welcome*CONNECTIVITY- if you have multiple monitors-i.e. i have a 1080ti with 3 display ports and 1 HDMI, though i have a TV in my setup so the HDMI on my graphics card is taken. You CAN use the onboard HDMI port if you enable a setting in bios just google it if you go that route, however when i went into settings there are some color settings and "Display" settings that were greyed out (not selectable), thinking this was maybe cus of the onboard HDMI somehow, I ordered a HDMI to Display Port adapter. Connecting to display port did not solve that issue, I havent figured that out yet as I just stopped to make this review, sorry. Out of box the colors look nice, though i do need to look more into why I cant access all the settings.Lastly, the stand....its nice, it works, fairly sturdy, but if you wanted to move the unit as a whole or even turn it a little, you would have to pick up the display and then the stand separately, its awkward to try and move them both cus the stand doesnt lock into place and its not wide enough to grab both from the sides. also if you wanted to draw vertically for whatever reason, this stand wont support it in that position and theres no room for the cable so you can only go vertical 1 way even if it could. this isnt a huge deal honestly but it is an improvable situation for anyone who might be bothered by it.For this im looking into laptop stand, and even considering a "monitor swivel"-THE REVIEW-This is my first step into becoming a digital artist outside of Sketchbook on my Note 9 so I dont have any comparison knowledge but...ive been wanting one for a long time and have been researching on and off for the past 3 or 4 yrs.I learned Huion is the much more affordable 2nd best just as good as Wacom, and that a display vs. one of the "blind pads" is all preference, but the "blind pads" allow you to be more ergonomically positioned while you work...and now that i have one i understand. This is a fantastic tool I cant wait to master. It feels worth the money, does not feel cheap, and the experience of the little bit of doodling ive been able to do so far was more pleasing than i imagined, they say things in reviews like "natural feel" "simulates paper surface" and you try to understand but you just cant fully grasp it til you try it, its nice. Really nice.out of box the settings seem acceptable but what do I know, and i need to figure out how to access ALL the settings. The software is simplistic and binding keys/shortcuts to the displays buttons is easy, though using the buttons isnt as cool as id hoped, i still like to use the keyboard, but better to have and not need then need and not have. The pen is accurate, i keep pushing one of the buttons on accident i wish they werent as easy to click as they are but to be fair it may be cus im used to holding my mechanical pencil with my finger resting on the button, the pencil i use has the button in the same place and pencil artists often rotate the utensil.I wouldnt call these things "cons" or downsides, but just what youre used to kinda things, and i have yet to get used to this new tool.OVERALL if you feel this might help you become a better artist, you owe it to yourself to find out, dont waste time, find out. Invest in yourself, you can always resell it if you find out its not what you expected but FIND OUT so you can move forward. I got it so I wouldnt have any more excuses, i have everything i need now to find my success as an artist. I thought having something fancy would reignite something in me to work harder or just be able to create more opportunities for exposure to other things so i can figure out what i want to do.Now I feel like I can, im glad i did. Hope this helps.Best of wishes on your journey, cheers.i got no discounts or payment for this review it is real and honest im not a Huion fanboy this is not a fake review.
5.0 out of 5 stars Was on the fence, but very glad I bought it
For context, the closest thing I've used to another drawing tablet is a Surface Pro 4 with the included pen, which I no longer own.I only got into drawing a couple months ago. I started by buying a $50 non-screen drawing tablet, which I wasn't thrilled with due to its ergonomics and it just being hard to draw without looking at what you're doing. I was hesitant to buy a display tablet so soon after, because I'm so new to drawing and didn't know if I'd stick with it, but I knew it would offer a better experience and decided to pull the trigger. It's great. The 16" size seems like plenty so far, it's thin and light for the display size, the display quality is good, the 1080p resolution fares better than I expected, and the pen is really good. On my cheaper tablet the buttons were too large and got accidentally clicked all the time; not an issue here. It has more buttons than most competitors, which is good because I ended making use of every single one. It's one of few affordable display tablets that supports USB-C, which is great.Significantly, even though Huion says that they "recommend" plugging it into the wall when connecting it to your computer via USB-C, in my experience connecting it to a MacBook Pro, *it runs just fine off of the single USB-C cable only, being powered by the computer over that single connection* which is really great. One thing I didn't like about drawing on my Surface was that it was very slippery. The matte screen protector on this device gives it a little bit of a texture. Not nearly as much as paper, but enough to give it a better feel than a regular touchscreen device. I feel like this slight texture is important to help give the pen some stability when drawing.Another advantage over the surface is that the pen-sensitive area actually extends a bit past the display on all sides. This is great because it means the line doesn't suddenly disappear when you hit the edge, and it makes it easier to interact with UI on the very edge of the screen.Downsides: Not much. The driver for macOS running on Big Sur is a little glitchy sometimes, but for the most part it works OK. I do wish there was an option to have a button alternate between two functions, which would be great for apps like Photoshop that don't support "momentary" activation of many tools. Also, skip the Huion ST200 stand; it's well built but there are big gaps in the angle adjustments; it's either very low or very high.I think the value here is really good, and it seems like a great purchase for any beginner to intermediate artist, and possibly even for pros.
Mesa perfeita pra quem veio do papel
Great value and quality
Not much money or just starting out then this is the Monitor Tablet for you.I am both those and have found this product to be just what I wanted.Light weight, responsive and fine enough screen to do some quality work (well one day maybe hey, as I still need to master this way of drawing) .I don't find the screen brightness low nor the reflective coating too reflective, but then I only use it in a window curtained room.Only a very minor lag on my old 2012 cheap end Mac. I use this tablet as my only monitor too. Can't beat the price nor the quality.Cheers
Great value for a starter pen display while purchasing on the cheap (which I did)
Pros:If available on the cheap compared to the other models, this is incredible value for money for a starter pen display. IMO, you won't be losing out on much compared to the more expensive models.Pen pressure sensitivity works great, tapering is really nice, no issues.Stylus feels nice to use, with great tilt. No more hand pain while gripping the stylus too hard or at weird angles like using a non display tablet. Just hold the stylus naturally as you would a pen. While the display is powered down, you can use it like a non pen display tablet to draw.Screen is at a good in-between size, just big enough where it provides a great drawing surface, while being small enough to be somewhat portable and does not require a mounting arm.Cons:Screen can have reflective glares, so you do need to use it angled away from light sources.Buttons can get stuck causing some minor issues. Unsure if the keys sticking is due to software or hardware issue.Laptop users, beware, this pen display continues to consume power while powered down. Unplugging it from your laptop is a good solution to conserve your battery, though you would lose your setup on the display. The right side where the power cable plugs into, heats up to a slight warmth. I mostly use the left - centre area, so it doesn't bother me, but it may bother some. Conclusion:Really enjoy using this product as my 1st pen display. Will certainly look at Huion again for my next upgrade.
