This axe has a larger head and a longer handle than the Wildlife Hatchet and therefore provides more chopping power. However, it is still small enough to fit into a rucksack. Excellent for felling trees and limbing. Comes sharp with a protective leather sheath and a copy of "The Axe Book".

B. Gränsfors Ceramic Grinding Stone - a man-made sharpening stone with two grinding faces: a course side (180 grit) for repairing damage and heavy wear, and a fine side (600 grit) for sharpening.
The ceramic composite makes the stone both durable and strong. In contrast to natural sandstone, a ceramic grinding stone can be given a more precise grain size. Its shape is round and flat with a bevelled edge to prevent chipping. The fine side is 2/3 of the thickness, as this side is usually used and worn down most. The stone is normally used with water but can be used dry. The stone comes in a protective rubber case, which also acts as a convenient holder during grinding/sharpening.

I also reviewed if it is worth spending so much money on a hatchet. Yes! There is a difference in quality. Also, I read that some have purchased Gransfors Bruk and thought they got a cheap imitation. I noticed in the Bolo description that Grandfors Bruk can be manufactured by another company. I looked for the seller that had the hatchet manufactured directly from Gransfors Bruk. Be sure to select a seller that has the hatchet directly from the Gransfors Bruk. I believe the other manufacture has a license to make Gransfors Bruk, similar to Henkel knives being manufactured in various places. The workmanship is precise and superb direct from the source. The head is solid with a perfect fit to the handle. Feels great in the hand. It can be used as either a hatchet or a small axe to use with both hands. Lightweight and easy to carry. My only complaint is the leather sheath. It has no substance to it. It will work temporarily but found a website that make more substantial leather sheaths for this hatchet.

I am not a bushcraft or a mountain man by any means but after carrying a hatchet whenever I go camping. I didn't realize this was really what I wanted. I did some research watched testament videos and decided to pull the trigger. It fits perfectly in the outer pocket of my 13L pack. Capable of feather sticking, shaving wood for kindling, splitting logs up to 1/32nd! and I'm sure smaller but I'm not going to try. This is a expensive purchase but definitely can be passed down to the next generation if maintained.
