It tastes like NYC sushi restaurant quality. The stems are a little large and need to be picked out before drinking.

I had my first cup of genmaicha at a friend's house. I liked it so ordered this brand of genmaicha. To me, it tasted horrible. I tossed it out. Apparently this brand is not what I had before. I try to drink green tea for health, but it usually does not taste good to me as is the case with most green vegetables. I feel like I'm eating the lawn. Now many grazing animals love it so I know it is good for some, but it does not align with my food heritage.

The title sums it up. I have bought the Hime loose Genmaicha for years but it has become impossible to find recently.So I've been tea hunting, and had high hopes for this because it says it has sorghum along with the tea and rice.Sorghum used to be a common ingredient in this type of tea and is hard to find now.But nope, it's not here.Still, the flavor isn't as weak as other kinds I've tried lately (Republic of Tea I'm looking at you) so it's a reasonable value.

So, I used to buy the old, non-organic version of this tea in loose form and loved it. I was super disappointed when they stopped offering it, and began a search for a good replacement. I gave this one shot. It's 4 times the price and 1/10 the flavor. Don't waste your time or money!

I used to LOVE the Yamamotoyama Genmaicha. Both in the bulk package and tea bags as well. It was the best tea I've had. Then about 4 years ago they changed it, and it barely had any flavor after that. Super disappointing. Whatever you did, please change it back. I actually found a small package of the original tea (in the brown package) left over in a cabinet. Even with additional maicha added (which tends to be bitter on it's own) it was still super delicious. But I've only got a few cups worth left!
