5.0 out of 5 stars In some cases will take some IT trickery, but once working, these are fabulous
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Installed 2 of these to spread signal to the far reaches of a very long L-shaped building.Already have 4 total UniFi AP pro's (2) and lite's (2) units on a server hosted controller, but it was not enough for the additional 40-60ft at the farthest ends of the building, leaving a conference room and 3 rooms on the other side with no internet at all, or 1 bar at best.Added these and initially had an "isolated" error on 1 of them, had to bring it in closer to one of the Pro APs during adoption, after running a pin hole reset (30 seconds hold) on it, then it adopted and pulled in the WLANs and SSIDs perfectly. Then I moved it back to where it was supposed to be and it's perfect now. Experience is 90-100% on all devices now, runs Beautifully.
5.0 out of 5 stars Plug and play
I already had an ubiquity dream machine set up as my router, and as soon as I powered this AP on impaired seamlessly using the app. All of my devices with previous weeks signal. In the other end of the house now have amazing connection. I would highly recommend this if you need an access.
1.0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE Customer Support. Just Awful.
Terrible customer support. If you have deep network administrator skills and training, you'll be fine. If you're one of the 99% who just want a stronger home wireless network, find another company. We have an existing network using UniFi access points and we thought it would be straightforward to add this extender. The "quick start guide" showed us how to plug it into the wall. Yeah...we got that part. There's no number to call, so we spent an hour waiting for an online tech chat for support. The customer support person directed us to a link to set up a network server for our existing system, which works fine. The very first sentence of that guide:"Self-hosting a UniFi Network Server should only be done by experienced network administrators."Keep in mind we currently have a functioning system. We're simply looking to plug-and-play an extender to improve our signal in one part of the house. We're homeowners with a WiFi network, not chief technology officers. Surely we're not the only people who aren't looking to design cloud-based IT infrastructure. We have plenty of existing hobbies and aren't looking for a new lame one. When we asked for more information, the "customer support" person terminated the chat.So if you're an experienced network admin, knock yourself out with this new work project. If you simply have a home and want a stronger wireless connection, find literally any other company and product. We're returning this product and replacing our existing UniFi access points with anything that offers some measure of customer support.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Unlike the new WiFi 6 version, this is probably the best extender Unifi has created so far. It has a great range and works better than expected with seamless roaming. So far I'm very happy with the purchase.
4.0 out of 5 stars good product
I am completing my Wi-Fi network and had an area without coverage and since the other equipment I have is from that brand, I decided to buy this equipment.
5.0 out of 5 stars TERRIFIC PRODUCT!
Have been having wifi reception problems for years. Tried other products with little success. This wifi extender works perfectly!
5.0 out of 5 stars Improves internet
This is wonderful to increase internet range. Just plug it in the direction you want to increase your service and progam to your router and it works! It does give off a good light so you can always tell when it is working. Definitely worth the money if you want to increase your range..
5.0 out of 5 stars Works just fine with AC AP PRO
Joins up with the network just fine, easy adoption, seamlessly extends range.Only downside is the ridiculous shape that completely covers the entire wall outlet despite only needing one plug.
Easy setup if you google it first.
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I used this to extend the range of my UDM (Dream Machine). It's listed as compatible and unsurprisingly it's working well. I would recommend it to others, but I would suggest looking into a setup guide first. It comes with nothing but a little card with a scan code / website that shows you how to plug it into the wall and then suggests getting the app from the app store. What it doesn't tell you is how to connect it to your router, which is really sad because it's so very simple. If you're using a UDM, just log in, click on Network (top right corner menu), then UNIFI Devices on the left. You'll see it there with a link to adopt. Click that, then click Adopt from a box that pops up. That's it. You'll probably have to update it by clicking the update link, but that's it. No other setup and devices will start making use of it immediately. One last note on the design. It looks great and is unobtrusive in the way that it fits tightly against the wall. It's also a very strange choice to design it in a way that will both cause you to sacrifice an outlet and restrict where you place or position it. It worked for me but I can see that being a deal breaker for a lot for a lot of people.
Amazing, if you already have access to your UniFi controller
As another review mentioned the key to this is to already have your UniFi controller up and running. Then just plug this thing in nearby, wait a few minutes, it will appear as ready for adoption, after which there's another few minutes as the inevitable firmware update occurs. That's all there is to it.Over the next 24 hours the different devices attached to the WiFi will steadily roll over to this as if it's nothing, with just an improvement in the connection. The UniFi controller panel gives you a lot more info than you thought you wanted which will help if you decide you want to move this somewhere else and quantify the difference. The simple truth is I should have bought this years ago. It's amazing.
Created a mesh network
Added the BeaconHD to create a mesh network with my UAPnano HD. Plugged it in and it integrated seamlessly without any issues. Has really improved my system with no noticeable performance cost.
Did not work
I returned this product because it did not work. I bought it to mesh with an UniFi U6 Pro access point and my Unifi Network Console would detect it, but could not adopt it, even after rebooting and resetting the unit a few times.
