It uses the ubiquitous USB port for power, but goes one step farther than most. The unit has both a MicroUSB and a USB-C port for power. And it will charge just about any size battery, from AAA to D-cell. I haven't bought rechargeable D-cells yet, but it works great on C-cells! That saved me a LOT of money this Christmas! And unlike many chargers, you can charge as few as one battery at a time - they don't have to be in pairs. And all the batteries can even be different sizes at one time.The only slightly minor downside is that if you put a battery in incorrectly, it will simply say error. That may mean you have it in backwards, or it could mean you don't have in down in the proper location for that size battery. Okay, it takes you about 5 seconds to figure it out. Never mind...

I've tried two or three different chargers. This one I like. I works well and as a plus its very easy to place and remove the batteries from the charger.

This charger does a decent job of charging batteries. The USB charger isn't very fast, but it does work. It fully charged a brand new set of C batteries in about three hours.

I bought this to charge 4 D cell NI-MH Tenergy 10,000 mAh batteries. (Note: these are high capacity D batteries - not what you normally find in big box stores which are just 1 AA in a D cell case). They were charging 24 hours from the 10% charge (as newly delivered). They were almost charged when I had to disconnect the USB-C temporarily and then reconnect. After that, the charging state started close to its original point. It took another hour to fully charge.It is best to use a USB-C charger with USB-C cable (not included) because it provides faster charging. About 20 hours compared to 24 with D cells, but can't we have faster charge times?The quality of the unit seems good. The display is clear and it is simple to use.

Drains instead of charges
I charge batteries as per instructions, some take 12hrs. Put "charged" batts in (various) appliances and they instantly are drained/empty.Tested on various batts & appliances (all known to be ok previously)
