Great tool for electrical work when you need to chase down circuits and be able to find the right breakers sometimes it’s a bit off but I believe it’s due to how the wiring is setup in the beginning

Saves a lot of time tracking down the breaker that serves a specific electrical load. Takes some skill to use it well, and it still may give false positives, forcing you to still need to turn off a breaker to see what loads are de-energized. Basic operation is tracing from electrical outlets. Biggest problem I've had it that there is no good/easy way to trace from a wall switch or from a hardwired load. This is partly because it wants to connect to both line and neutral. There is an adapter for medium base ("standard") light sockets, but not for other sizes or fluorescents. So it does what it does, but it is not (and cannot be) the 100% solution to tracing. Why I deleted 1 star.

I had a little breaker-mapping project. This tool is not a requirement for that, but it certainly makes it a lot faster and easier to get the job done.

No more trial and error turning breakers off!
This is an excellent circuit breaker finder that has helped me immensely mapping out the circuits in my home. The panels in my house were very poorly labeled, with things scribbled out and not informative at all that I had no clue which breaker controlled majority of my house.This helped me identify which lights and outlets were on each circuit so I could relabel my panels and calculate roughly how much load was on each circuit. Very accurate if you use it correctly. Make sure to follow instructions and keep it oriented the right way when scanning your panel. Also, slowly make a first pass over each breaker so the scanner learns your panel(it may beep at multiple breakers the first pass). Then make a second pass and you will find the breaker of the circuit your transmitter is plugged into, as it will lock in on that signal. So accurately in fact that I have some dual pole breakers running 2 seperate 120v circuits, and the scanner will lock right in to the exact side of the dual pole each circuit is on. Would highly recommend this circuit breaker finder!
