We wanted to play our CDs out by our pool so needed a battery-powered player. This boombox has good sound. After switching to the 'CD' function, you need to lift the lid and put the CD inside and then wait a few seconds for the number of tracks to come up. Then press 'play' and it will start with track 1 or any other track you indicate. If you do not follow this sequence it will not play -- took me a bit to figure out. No tone control but nice even sound.

Got this for my Mom. She wanted a lightweight radio for when gardening or hanging out in the pool and this fits the bill. I'm prone to borrowing it for the day when I go on a job site painting or something too, and you can plug your phone or MP3 player into the aux and use it as a speaker for your music too.This little workhorse has been working great for over a year now, it's handled being ported around with ease, plays the music clearly, and was very affordable. Still picks up the radio great even in basements. CD player still doesn't skip.Buy once and be glad!

The first one came with 2 fully blown speakers, but was quickly replaced. Customer service was awesome, they refunded the purchase quickly and sent a new one with free shipping.The second one came in the mail after 2 days, "fragile" plastered all over the box unlike the first. The second one was awesome for almost a year. Then about a week ago, my rambunctious 2 year old cat knocked it off my dresser, as she's done before. Two days later, I go to use it, and halfway through a song it lets out this high pitched screech, then a crackling noise from the speaker and refuses to read any CD.I have questions about the durability for that reason, and for that the AM radio stopped working after 2 weeks, and the FM radio only worked when the device was at a certain angle. The AM/FM tuning could also use a bit of improvement, it's near impossible to tell what channel I'm on with the knob. I just have to guesstimate!Cannot attest to portability, use with a smart device inline, or battery life as I really only used it as a cd player or radio, didn't use the battery feature, and didn't really move it. I will say it is a heavy device, and that the AUX cord had trouble picking up my mp3 player or phone, hence not really using the inline devices feature.I like this device but I think that it needs some improvements. What it lacks in durability or connectivity, it makes up for tenfold in audio quality and ease of reading disks. It easily read a disk that was scratched BADLY from when I was in elementary school in the mid 2010s (it was a cd that came free with a sonic wacky pack), had no issue with burned CDs or playing sound only from DVDs.

Worked great... For a while, maybe 3 weeks or so.I bought this product partially based on brand name. And I was initially happy with it. I didn't start using it for some time after buying it I used it only for audiobook CDs from the library. When playback started skipping and squealing and just not working, I thought maybe the audiobook CDs from the library were damaged. But when I had the same playback problems on multiple CDs, and the problems got progressively worse, I decided to try another CD player. I bought another on Bolo. The same CDs that weren't working on this Craig worked fine on the new CD player. I can only conclude this Craig CD player was faulty, poor quality, or I got a lemon.This experience will make me more cautious of Craig products in the future.

This is classic Chinese junk. I boycott Chinese goods for political reasons, and buy only US made products or from other international sellers. However, I was unable to locate a portable CD player. I thought I would risk ordering this model after reading dozens of reviews from other models, this one received the most positive reviews. As a professional musician, I grew up in the era where one would go to sound rooms to test out putting together a high fidelity system with different stereo components and speakers. I was not looking for such a set-up, just something simple to operate to listen to CDs next to my bed while reading or falling asleep. What I received was pathetic. It did not even work. I returned it and thought I would make another attempt. I received a replacement in the wrong color. At least this one works, but perhaps it will be only a matter of days or weeks and then this will expire. I will have to see how long this holds up and then update my review. It is very easy to operate and the buttons are very simple, not ten thousand indecipherable icons. Also, one advantage is that it does not talk to me like all modern day devices do. The last model I purchased (also made in China) surprisingly lasted a year. I have to admit the Bolo customer service team was absolutely superb in handling this situation. I received excellent customer service.
