Fortunately I selected the correct cleaning unit, be very careful to find your shaver model number before ordering. The numbers are located under the lower portion of the sideburn cutters. They are STUNNINGLY tiny and you need excellent lighting to even begin to see them. Magnification is very helpful.As noted by others, this unit does NOT INCLUDE THE POWER CORD! So be sure to save the old one. I deducted one star because of this inexcusable omission.Otherwise, it works and it costs way more than it should but hey, everything is crazy expensive these days.

My old cleaning/recharging base started leaking cleaning fluid and I couldn't fix it. The wife got nauseous smelling it, so I ordered this new one. As it's a Braun product, I figured it would be fully compatible with my Braun series 9 shaving kit. With great anticipation, this arrived. And promptly didn't work. It was virtually identical to my old cleaning/charging base. The light came on, so I knew it was charging (I left it charge overnight before trying it.) When I put the razor into it, it didn't start cleaning. I tried wiggling the razor to make sure it was contacting the base's electrodes, unplugging/replugging its power cord, and I checked to make sure the cleaning cartridge I installed was inserted correctly.Nothing worked, so I tried customer service. After having to wait awhile to "chat" (never a good sign when they are really busy), they weren't able to help me other than to say that since it didn't come with my original kit, Braun wasn't responsible and to get with Bolo. So, much for standing behind their OEM parts. I'm out $71 for the base and $5 for a new cleaning cartridge. And I still need another one, unless I want to manually clean it. Sigh. I bought a second one AND it didn't work. I suspect that maybe the new base isn't compatible with my razor EVEN THOUGH Bolo shows it as compatible. The razor is several years old, but it should have been backwards compatible. I guess I'll try and return the second one, but there is no other way to contact Bolo through the product page ... all support leads to Braun.

The only appearance difference is the matte finish on the top of the unit, which is much better than the original's gloss-black appearance. The replacement does not show dust and dirt as badly, and the lights show up better on it. Otherwise, it works exactly as the original.

The Pro 9 has an icon that flashes a droplet indicating it’s Time for a bath in the cleaner. I drop the razor in the cleaner and it cleans, and dries the head and adds a lemon scent. Really a slick contraption.

I received my new clean and charge base today and it was obvious that Braun made some updates to the product: 1. The drying fan is a lot quieter than I ever remembered. 2. They finally got smart and made the top a matte finish which is very easy to clean. the previous "piano black" that they used on every other model I have owned looked very nice, however no matter how soft your cloth is, it will show fine scratches after the first wipe. This is much better!
Received, but still can't use it immediately.
