But then someone decided my breakfast bliss wasn’t good enough.The first time I served her pancakes with smoked maple syrup, she took one bite, froze, and looked at me like I’d just committed a culinary crime.“What is this?” she asked, setting her fork down with dramatic flair.“It’s smoked maple syrup,” I said, trying not to take it personally.“It tastes like I’m licking a smoking BBQ or a wood smoker,” she declared, pushing her plate away. “Why would anyone do this to syrup?!”I’ll admit, I was offended. I actually discovered it after seeing a video on Instagram for pork belly cinnamon rolls, and it was one of the key ingredients. The combination of rich, smooth maple syrup with the subtle warmth and complexity of WhistlePig rye whiskey was just incredible. It elevates everything from pancakes and waffles to ice cream and even savory dishes. The flavor profile is perfectly balanced. My only wish? That the price point was a little lower so I could justify indulging in this liquid gold more often. It's definitely a splurge, but worth every penny.
