5.0 out of 5 stars Accurate specs - great value binoculars
These are excellent binoculars and a great value for the price (I got mine for about $55). I had previously purchased a chinese knockoff from Bolo which claimed the exact same specifications but I was not happy with the knockoff's actual magnification. They were described as 20x but didn't look any different than my old 7x Bushnell. The new 20x50 Bushnell are EXACTLY as described and images are much bigger and appear more twice as close. There is a little trick where you can actually determine approximate magnification -- set the binoculars on a light source (white screen on cell phone) and measure the WHITE dot/circle that you see on the eyepiece (lens). Then divide the Objective lens (in this 50mm) by the measured dot/circle (about 2 to 2.5mm), 50 / 2.5 = 20. That is the magnification. In the case of the BUSHNELL binoculars, my 7x35 had a "dot" of 5mm (35/5=7x) and my 20x50 had a dot of 2.5mm (50/2.5=20). But my chinese knockoff (20x52 claimed) had a dot of 7mm (52/7~7.5x) so way less magnification than 20x claimed.
4.0 out of 5 stars Ok for under $100
Pretty good for under $100. Sharpness just ok, proper focus took time to get. Minimal CA, happy for that. Would recommend and must be on a tripod.
5.0 out of 5 stars Remarkably Powerful 16x32, Nicely built
There are times when you just want to see farther away then normal with Binoculars. 12x is usually the nicest view for biggest magnification needed for everyday adventures. 16x magnification is really pushing the limit on if you can hold them steady enough for a good view. At the low price it is easy to take the leap and try. These are quite nice because you seeing objects very far away, and see what you didn't know was there... the sharpness may not agree with some but to me it is quite amazing, License Plate numbers and signs are easy to read. As you see further away some views may not be considered as sharp. But they are very good views. I am very happy this new magnification to my collection.I would never recommend binocualars over 12x magnification. In daylight holding them steady, the problem with higher magnification, is quite possible if you grew up around binoculars so you know how to hold them. Most by 8x or 10. Some love 12x. Remember the more magnification the less of a field of view you will see. It gets very narrow past 12x. These are not good for finding birds, enjoying scenery or the Night Sky.Bushnell is a trusted brand name. All their binoculars have great enough views for all but the rich and elite. You could get the perfect view with buying a pair for over 1000 dollars I never really saw a real purpose for the perfect look. I love the cheaper almost perfect look.Remember 8X and 10X is all you really need to have a very good day.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works well!
Works well! I've used it on a variety of occasions, including watching a full eclipse of the moon. Of course, for that I waited until the moon was over half eclipsed to keep from getting my eyes burnt. I wear glasses. I did have some adjusting to using binocs with glasses and found I could focus well without my glasses.
5.0 out of 5 stars Do Your Optics Research
Understand optics before buying. These are great but you need to understand that at this level of magnification you will need to set them up with a tripod etc to keep what you see stable.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great value
As advertised, and a great deal. They are not compact. I was able to buy the used ones for around $35 and it was in mint condition.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not good for eyeglass wearers....
Power view 10x25. Cheap and you get what you pay for. Optics quality is OK, but terrible tunnel vision for eyeglass wearers due to the short eye relief (<10mm). Focal range is poor, does not focus closer than 10 or 15 m. I'm buying this size for light weight pocket sized walking around binoculars.... a good choice is Olympus 8x25 WP 2. Bushnell has several options below $100 also. Also Carson 8x26mm. Pentax AD 8x25 is wonderful, but 4 x the cost of this Bushnell.
Really bad product! Magnification is not as advertise
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I have ordered a 16x magnification and once received, compared it with my Steiner 10x magnification...there waa no difference in magnification, these binos were NEVER 16x, despite its ad. STAY AWAY from anything made in China. The manufacturer over there is doing something very wrong and Bushnell should be performing regular audits, not to mention implementing a strong Quality Assurance department. If you want good optics and products that are true to what they advertise, you need to pay for them! The bino were returned quickly to Bolo.
Compact and sturdy.
Great for anyone any age.
