I dropped down CAT6 to a keystone in my living room so I could hardwire the consoles and TV to ethernet. I initially was going to get a standard switch but I had an extra POE port available on my main switch so I figured I’d just use that to power one and not have to waste an outlet. This is the only reputable one I could find and it’s awesome. Plug and play and only pulls like 3W to run. Now all of my media center gear is hardwired, streaming videos and downloading games is lightyears faster than over wifi in my congested townhome complex.

Works great, just confused why this thing gets its own LAN IP on my network. At first I thought it was the IP for the first device connected to it, but all of those have their own different unique IP addresses. Why does this get its own unique address? It's unmanaged. So weird.

Great little switch, that does port isolation, VLAN support, very low power draw, and power supply via PoE on the uplink port.Taking one star away because out of the box the switch was not discoverable by the unifi controller and had to do a slightly annoying factory reset procedure to get it adopted.

As an 'endpoint' device, it's as good as it gets!
Built to Ubiquiti's high standards and well-presented in it's (still-sealed) box, this device is minute. I thought that the Netgear device it was replacing was small, but this is even smaller! Unlike the Netgear, this does not have mounting slots on its base for screws, so cannot be fixed to the rear of a desk or cabinet - that said, it's small enough to allow the use of double-sided tape, provided the surface being fixed to was flat and dust-free.There have been comments made by some reviewers that it lacks POE passthrough - this would not be possible, as loading all four of its ports to the maximum power would overload the power capabilities of not only the units Port 1, but also the upstream device, as well as result in significant volt drops down the network cable. Some might think that the solution to this would be to use the external power supply; this will not work either, as the external power feed is 5Vdc - but the POE voltage is circa 50Vdc, thus removing the capability to use USB and requiring a far larger mains power supply.When supplied, I attached it to my existing network and it immediately showed in the device list, with a status of 'Pending Adoption'. I selected Adopt, it was then added to the existing install, checked for a firmware update (there was) and installed same, restarting once complete - all in all, utterly painless. First impressions - an excellent device, superb value for money. From a functional perspective, it does very well what it's supposed to do, with LED's on the individual ports for status, which are mirrored on the cloud management system.

Perfect. I couldn't get vlans to work properly in my shop from the house and couldn't figure out why. Turns out the old switch was damaged and when I installed this one everything just worked.
