Turning her love for organization, parties, and relationship-building into a full-time career, Nowak translates her professional success into a practical, and easily digestible, step-by-step model for beginners.Covering a wide range of topics from calculating investment costs to creating a consistent brand image, Nowak prepares amateur event planners for the realities of starting a business from the ground up. Because Nowak provides such an abundance of material, she recommends readers focus on chapters that are directly applicable to their own situation.One of the strengths of this ebook is Nowak's inclusion of lists of required certifications, useful government websites, relevant loan programs for newly founded start-ups, and professional organizations related to event planning. All of these resources will undoubtedly prove beneficial to those who are serious about sharpening their skill set. Nowak's language is unfussy and to the point while still managing to be encouraging and insightful. Her inclusion of examples related to her own experiences help place ideas and concepts into a practical context, as well. This publication is definitely worth the download!

I came to learn about event planning business when my friend's family recently hired someone for their family reunion party. The party was a blast and everything from food to music to decorations was done perfectly. I had a chance to chat with the person and learned that she was new to the business yet already booked up through the end of Spring! She didn't get much into any details about her business but looking at the event I could tell she was actually working as a coordinator (more like a general contractor)and sub-contracting pieces of the event to other businesses. This made me very curious and seeing this book, I had to get it. This book appears to be written by someone who has first-hand knowledge about the business and she shares a lot of details about how to actually get started, how to run and how to even market the business. I will admit, after talking to the event planner I met and after reading this book, I am now set to give this a try. Definitely a book worth reading.

Rebecca Nowak's writing style throughout this book is definitely persuasive enough to get anyone who is interested in planning any sort of event, such as a bachelorette party, to unlock their creative abilities when it comes to said planning, instead of convincing themselves that they're incapable of being creative.At the same time, she does warn readers in advance that if they're not certain that they could handle working each day in a high-stress, high-pressure, highly competitive, somewhat time-consuming, sleep-depriving, and fast-paced industry such as event planning, then maybe it's not a plausible career choice for them, especially not starting their own business. That said, she also says that one could develop new skills that would help them be more suited and feel more comfortable working in this type of profession.Unlike most of these instructional books, which convey an overall unrealistic, disorganized, paltry message in how events are not only planned but successfully carried out into actual fruition, this book is as detailed as possible, from fairly warning that event planning, just like with any other venture that pretty much commands you to use their creative, organizational and common-sense skills, always starts from humble beginnings and that the planner should not anticipate overnight success.Nowak also cannot stress any more the fact of how important it is to not keep your client demographic too broad, because maybe your event and/or business does not pertain or appeal to everyone. She also stresses how important it is that in addition to reading this book, to get some kind of formal education on how to start your own event planning business.So, if you're truly ready to fully handle and accept both the challenges AND perks--more of each which are discussed further in the book--each day while starting and operating an event planning business, then this is the book for you.

Warning short story:I recently decided to start an event space/ event planning business, I have some familiarity with catering and wedding planning as mother had a small yet successful business growing up, and I chose culinary school as my pursuit to higher learning, not really knowing if it was my passion. Fast forward 15y and I’m start over career wise, and as it turns out it wasn’t the food but the pageantry of it all that became my passion. However I soon realized that my full knowledge of the industry was mostly one sided and not the business side of things at that. Looking for a place to start reaching or self educating can be overwhelming, to be honest I picked your book because it looked and felt doable and relatable. When I say you did not disappoint, The book was well laid out and informative. When going from the standard to business world the language barrier can be a stopping point. You gave clear explanations, and definitions and any time I had a question or seem to be confused the answer would reveal itself the further into the book I got, it really was just what I was looking for!Thank you

To be honest, even after going to school for hospitality and hotel management, I thought that I knew it all when it came to event planning. It was one of the biggest lessons covered within that major. Although I was pretty well versed in much of what I read, i was blown away by the financial section of this read. I recommend this for anyone who's ever thought about going into event planning. Be it that you're completely new to this or maybe you've gotten some sort of education for it and just need a bit of brushing up, this book is a must read.
