I had a Singer sewing machine that was more than 40 years old. Still working but realized I needed an upgrade. Finally decided to go for a new model, and thank goodness I did. Love this machine, super easy to use, the stitches look so professional, super light compared to the 20 lb old Singer, I can carry it with one hand! LED light, features are very similar to my old one, except for a couple of things, but there are plenty of videos to help and I can download the manual online. By the way, I'm NOT a seamstress, so I have to buy something that was very easy to use, and this sewing machine didn't disappoint. Great quality.

I haven't used a sewing machine since 7th grade Home Ec. but found online reviews suggesting this one for beginners. I've made three small lap blankets and a few pillows and have had no issues. Threading the needle and filling a bobbin is easier than I expected but might take a few tries. The thickest I've sewed is a 3 layer blanket (two layers of fabric, batting in the center) and it worked perfectly fine. I did snap a needle, but it was from 4 or so overlapping layers at a corner so I don't blame the machine.I've tried the first four stich settings and they all came out great. Back stitching also works well.I don't know where all these reviews are coming from about jamming. If you're machine is jamming you're probably threading the machine wrong or are somehow misusing it. The manual is on Singers site and there's official YouTube tutorials. What does come in the box directions-wise is a visual guide on how to thread the needle and wrap a bobbin.If you're planning on opening an etsy shop or doing heavy fabrics, this machine probably isn't for you. But if you're just starting out or are sticking to simple projects this is a great first machine.

I did see a video and read a few complaints about the failure of the bobbin’ mechanism but I took a chance and ordered it thinking maybe buyers of this machine weren’t putting the thread right and hey! it’s a famous brandname. Well, I just finished carefully putting everything back in the box because I am returning this thing. The Bobbin mechanism kept jamming up on me as I did a trial run. I went over the instructions again and again, re-thread it, checked that everything is in the right position but it still kept jamming up on me. I am not a mechanic or a machinist, I can’t make this work, there’s something fundamentally wrong with the bobbin mechanism. Perhaps not on every single machine but I can’t with this purchase.

I used Singer in school and found that they were very easy to operate
I like everything about Singer very easy to use and I know they stand up for meny years My mother had one and I learned to work with it and every easy to operate
Not suitable for use in UK
DO NOT BUY. Fantastic machine but can't be used in the UK, our voltage is different to USA voltage. So even if an adapter is used it would damage the inside works. Should not be advertised in our country without warning. Waste of money shipping here and returning. SOMEBODY WAKE UP AND THINK!!!!!!!!!.
Simply easy sewing machine
It took an hour or so reading the fine manual and experimenting but everything I tried worked very well. I sewed a few hems and bags in canvas with no difficulty.
Great machine for beginner
I ordered this sewing machine for my daughter, and I've never used a sewing machine in my life, so I can't compare it to other sewing machines, however, I can say that it works as well as it's advertised.The first several days my daughter and I had a bit of trouble because it kept getting jammed, but once we figured out what was wrong and how to fix it, we didn't have any problems.Also, I ordered it on July 11, and Bolo said it would be delivered by the 17th, but it came on the 18th.If you're a beginner, I suggest watching some tutorial videos on Youtube first, so you'll have an easier time using it.If your machine is jammed, you should take the bobbin out and pull out the thread. If the needle is stuck and it doesn't come up, take the bobbin out, there should be two black levers that you push to the side, which exposes 2 metal pieces that can come out, which makes it easier for you to grab the jammed thread, once you're done just put it back together. ( and for safety, plug off the sewing machine before doing this )Four needles come with the machine, one is attached to the machine already, the other three are in a bag. The sizes of the needles are all 90/14.It works well, and my daughter enjoys using it and making her projects.
Good machine
This sewing machine is good, but after I got used to it. It is pretty, too.
