5.0 out of 5 stars A Delicious Meal Can Be Made In 20 Minutes With Your Favorite Protein Or Vegetables
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Passage To India Butter Chicken Simmer Sauce only requires 2.2lbs of diced chicken, lamb, beef, seafood, or vegetables and 20 minutes of cooking time to create a delicious meal. To cook, you just need to sear the meat or vegetables in a hot oiled saucepan, add the simmer sauce and stir until bubbling, cover the pan with a lid and reduce the heat to low, and simmer until the meat or vegetables are fully cooked and tender. You can elect to add a touch (2 tablespoons) of heavy cream but I decided to skip this addition. The finished meal creates a rich, savory, tangy, and well seasoned sauce that coats the chicken and accompanying rice beautifully. The manufacturer recommended pairing it with basmati rice but I paired it with brown rice. It is a delicious and comforting meal that can be made in the middle of the week without any stress and minimal effort. There are 4 servings per container with each 1/3 cup serving containing 90 Calories, 2.4g Total Fat, 14g Total Carbohydrates, and 3g Protein. The ingredients are clean, recognizable, and pronounceable including tomatoes, tomato puree, water, sugar, spices, cream powder, yogurt powder, milk solids, salt, paprika & paprika extract, corn starch, distilled vinegar, citric acid, dehydrated garlic, natural flavor, xanthan gum, turmeric extract, and spice extract. It is a Certified Gluten Free and Non GMO Product. It is Made in Australia with a best by date of 11 months from the date that I received it. My family and I really enjoyed this meal and I plan to add another order of this scrumptious sauce to my Bolo cart.
4.0 out of 5 stars Tasty butter sauce
Passage to India makes some pretty good sauces. This is the 2nd one I've tried and it makes for a quick and flavorful meal. Not very spicy at all. I added this to a bowl with white rice and chicken as well as onions and mushrooms, simmering the chicken in the sauce for quite a while to really get the flavor of the sauce deep in the chicken. Turned out pretty well.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy, decent even if you just use it as is
This is rather easy to make. It's no harder than most of those frozen, bagged dinners that require you to simmer them. The only extra thing you really need to do is sear some meat and make some rice.I tried it as is, and it wasn't bad. It wasn't spicy, or anything close to homemade, but for something that comes in a bag, it's pretty good. I then proceeded to attack it with my spice cabinet and improved it quite a bit. If you don't like spicy stuff, you'll be fine with it as is. I added a ton of spice to it. Well, I say I tried it as is, but I did fiddle with the recipe a little bit. Instead of searing the chicken and then cooking it in the sauce with the veggies, I cooked some chicken breast sous vide, chopped it up, seared it, and then added it right before I was finished. That made my chicken amazing. For something in a bag, this is quite tasty. For those of us who like to fiddle with premade stuff, it also makes a great base for whatever dish you want to make.
3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, but lacking flavor
I had such high hopes for this, but it fell short for me. The sauce came out very runny and didn't stick to the chicken very well. I served it with cumin basmati rice and some garlic naan bread and added a dash of cream and some fresh cilantro, but the chicken itself was a bit bland. I think maybe I should have simmered it longer than the instructions said to dry it out a bit more and concentrate the sauce better, but I'm afraid my chicken would have ended up overcooked. If I try this again, I'll probably cook my chicken then take it out of the pan, simmer the sauce on its own for a bit to thicken and then add the chicken back in.
5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious!
This is such an easy way to get the specific blend of spices and ingredients that makes this dish so delightful! I made this Passage to India Butter Chicken with two lbs. of chicken and two packages of rice that needed to be microwaved, so it was super easy to just gook the chicken and then add the package of sauce, then serve on the heated rice. The meal is mildly seasoned -- to too spicy at all -- and really delicious.I was also impressed with the amount of food -- it was a total of four meals, so my partner and I ate this for dinner for two nights, and it was plenty! Overall, the price of this to create such a delicious meal so easily is very good, and I'm glad that I had the chance to try this as it's both delicious and makes it look like so much work went into it!
4.0 out of 5 stars Very good for prepackaged
Passage to India Butter Chicken (1)We love Indian food, and really just about most Southwest Asian food. We also like to make it homemade from home, but it’s time consuming so we use some prepackaged sauces. We tried this, and it was very good for prepackaged. I added some cayenne pepper to add more spiciness as it was very mild, but other than that it was delicious. We added some chicken, onions, and cauliflower. We’ll use this again. Recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars Yummy, Quick Meal
Butter chicken is not a spicy hot Indian dish - just flavorful. If you are a spice lover, this will be quite mild. If you can't handle hot foods, this is a great intro dish to how flavorful and delish Indian food is.I chunked up 3 chicken breasts, 2 onions, and a large bell pepper to have a more complete meal. I did season all of my additions with salt, pepper, kashmiri pepper, and curry powder. I sauteed the onions and peppers for a few minute then added the sauce packet and chicken. I served over rice, so I added about 1/3 cup of water to the packet to get the rest of the flavor out and thin out the sauce a bit. To serve, I added 1/4 cup of cream and sprinkled cilantro on top. Very fast, easy, and delicious lunch!
4.0 out of 5 stars Good flavor
I ordered this butter chicken simmer sauce because our family loves curry. We didn't make it any special way, just the basic recipe. It was good. No complaints. There is a recipe on the page here that we will do next time, because it looks delicious.
