The box would hold 8-12, so they just bounced around on the trip from Florida to California. All of the edges are dented and a few corners are smashed enough that the counter bore for the mounting bolts is bent inward.They were well wrapped with plastic and bubble wrap to protect from minor scratches and if they had been packed tightly in a smaller box, they would have had far less damage.One piston looks like crap, but the cylinder looks new. It shouldn't effect function. Maybe it sat around the factory and got dirty from being used in some other way and then eventually was assembled with other parts.The Good: these come apart very easily with large snap ring pliers. I will be machining them to stack 3 cylinders to multiply the force, for a power draw bar on my mill. They are well lubed with clear grease and the seals seem good. I have no idea if they are common seals. It will be easy to modify and reassemble these for my project.While I should be able to grind the dents and use the cylinders, they are going on the front of a $10k machining. I wanted them to look nice, not like something bought used. Instead of returning and getting more dented parts, I think I will just make a sheet metal cover to hide this part of the machine, the same way some other manufacturers do.

I used these to replace some smaller air cylinders I bought from Mc Master. These are 50% bigger meaning they apply 50% more load than what I had. Other than the npt fittings, they use metric bolts for mounting and for attachment to the loading shaft. It was much harder to find the large metric shaft bolt that the English threaded shaft bolt on the Mc Master cylinder.Also, as it turns out, there is a fairly small throttling hole leading into the cylinder which significantly reduces the flow into the cylinder. Apparently this is for smoother action. The Mc Master cylinder also had a throttling hole but it was bigger so I took the cylinder apart and drilled it out a bit since speed of operation is important in my application. It comes apart easily and goes back together easily.
