Riser

Description:

Riser topped the Billboard Country Albums chart and marked Dierks Bentley's fifth career debut in the top spot. The thunderbird symbolism speaks volumes about the complex ball of emotions locked within. It's a symbol of strength, resilience and renewal - one that appropriately reflected Bentley's first album since the death of his father and the birth of his first son. Produced by Ross Copperman and Arturo Buenahora Jr., it's a project full of sonic power that has a strong sense of family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dierks' Best!

J.P. · September 3, 2015

I have to say that I absolutely could not love this album more. At first there were a few of the songs that didn't resonate with me right away ("Here on Earth," "Drunk on a Plane," (<--while a fun idea, it at first seemed like just a superficial party song to me...but it is so much more!) "Five," "Damn These Dreams," "Hurt Somebody,"), but the more I listened to this, the more I got the deep emotion behind the tracks that I had previously kind of missed. It really is a very heartfelt album, and while I have loved me some Dierks ever since I first heard "Every Mile a Memory" back in 2005, I have to say this is my favorite of his albums to date. My favorite songs are the superb "Riser," the 5 I mentioned above,"Bourbon in Kentucky," "Say You Do," and "I Hold On." There's really not a bad song on it. All are catchy, well-written, and musically and vocally interesting. It is incredible - do yourself a favor and buy it, and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't you just love an album where each song is your favorite?

C. · June 20, 2014

I gotta say... I thought I liked Country okay... That was until I heard this guy sing I hold On on NBC one morning. I bought the album the first week it dropped.Love it.EVERY SINGLE SONG IS A FAVOURITE.Got to love it so much it just doesn't come out of the tray now.I hold On is A personal song that touches very deeply. So I also bought a copy for my brother cause we lost our dad recently. Every word in riser reminds me of my boyfriend so I bought him a copy. Pretty Girls reminds me of my best girlfriend and I partying it up, so I bought her a copy. Honestly... There is A song for every mood. And it will rock your soul.Go. Get It.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love Dierks.

A.M. · February 28, 2014

It's no secret that he's long been one of my favorites, but Riser even exceeded my expectations. There are plenty of heart-wrenching sad songs, but there are also great, up-tempo ones like "Drunk on a Plane" to keep you moving along. My favorites so far are: Say You Do, Drunk on a Plane, Riser, Back Porch and Hurt Somebody. All in all, Riser is a nice mix of everything you love about Dierks (even if we are still minus those lovely, chaotic curls). Well worth the wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entire album is worth a listen

M.G.B. · March 11, 2014

Riser is an amazing album. I cannot get enough of Damn these Dreams. I know it's about being in the music industry but anyone in any career can relate to it. Another favorite is Drunk on a Plane. It's definitely a fun song. Other highlights are Bourbon in Kentucky, Riser and Hurt Somebody. If you are a Dierks fan, definitely check out Riser. Usually I enjoy about 2/3s of a Bentley album. This is my overall favorite project he has released.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rising to new highs!

T. · March 29, 2014

Although I expected the song topics a little more on the introspective and general struggle-with-life side (after all the pre-hype about how the death of his father kicked off the creative process), I am positively suprised by a great and clearly modern (versus traditional) album! Songs like 'I Hold On', the excellent title track, and 'Damn these Dreams' fulfill the expectations for songs about life's up and downs, while the lyrically very deep 'Here On Earth' comes off musically a little too dry.In between stands 'Sounds of Summer', one of my favorites on the album, which cleverly paints an eternal picture of all too familiar summer sound pictures with a catchy mid-tempo melody, which could stand the test of time because of its never changing validity.Songs that are fun, but which break the mood of the album a little for me, because they just seem to follow, what's currently hot on the radio are the light 'Pretty Girls', the quite unrealistic 'Drunk on a Plane' and 'Back Porch', which sounds like a cousin of 'Boys 'Round Here' from Blake Shelton.Filling the mix are average love-songs with well familiar themes 'Say You Do' and a little deeper: 'Hurt Somebody' and 'Five'.Overall still a very pleasant production, which should satisfy music listeners who like their country with some (although it could have been more) deep lyrics, mostly pleasant mid-tempo sounds in a modern (country) style.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm Now a Dierks Bentley Fan

K.T. · January 7, 2016

This is the first album I've purchased from Dierks Bentley. I was never really a huge fan of a lot of his music until I heard this album. He really delivers on this. From beginning to end, it is truly a good effort. There's not a bad song on the album. Standout tracks: "Bourbon in Kentucky," "Say You Do," "Riser," and "Damn These Dreams." I can definitely hear "Sounds of Summer" becoming the next summertime anthem on country radio! It's definitely worth listening to multiple times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album!

This is the first album I have bought of his. I have always loved his music. I decided to get this album due to his first single I Hold On because of how personal it was. He has several personal songs on this album. I have been listening to it all day and can honestly say it is my favorite of the year. I like all the songs. I truly respect artists who are real in their music and he honestly is. This is what country music is all about. I would definitely recommend this.

Rising quality music.

Dierks Bentley - RISER

F. · June 30, 2014

It's a good collection of his songs
