this stuff is incredibly effective (way more so than the liquid drain openers). i use it on the bathroom sink/tub and kitchen drains (not in the disposal tho), and it seems to increase the flow markedly. also, the overflow in one of my bathroom sinks was totally blocked for years; i tried everything to get it clear to no avail until this product: i folded a sturdy notecard to create a little funnel and used it to spoon some crystals down the overflow, poured a little boiling water, and in 10 minutes the blockage was totally clear. i’m never going back. **note** you must use boiling water to activate it, so if using in a porcelain sink be sure to warm up the basin with hot tap water so as not to crack the porcelain with a sharp change in temp. also, the lye forcefully bubbles up for the first few seconds after the hot water hits it, so stand back, wear gloves, and keep your face away from the drain.

Took two treatments but worked like a charm. Prior to trying this I had tried different Liquid Plumr products, boiling water, etc and nothing touched my slow draining clog. This product opened up the clog and it has stayed unclogged for several weeks now. Highly recommend.

I am always doubtful about “fix-all” product but this one is terrific! It undtopped a slower clog which was acting impossible - and in spite of the actual shower drain. We followed the instructions and it worked!!! Just terrific to be draining perfectly now!!!

Love this product, have bought it for multiple time. Very effective, and remove the clog easily. Try not to breathe the steam in when pull the hot water.

Okay, this is a bit of a tangent that I am going off on. On a tools forum that I am a member of another member posted that if sodium hydroxide (lye) is applied to clean steel, it will prevent it from rusting. Hmmm, I would think that it would cause rust. okay, so I bought this and using rubber gloves and eye safety wear, (extremely important) I dissolved some in some water in a plastic bucket. I didn't measure anything. I then dipped a rag in the solution and wrung out the excess. I had previously made a table for my portable bandsaw from 3/16 mild steel plate. I used a die grinder with an 80 grit grinding disc to smooth out the surface and expose the steel. I wiped it all over the steel table and rinsed the rag out and threw it away. So far about a month later, NO RUST! I treated my new welding table also. If you decide to try this, make sure you use the proper safety equipment and respect this chemical. IT IS CAUSTIC! IT WILL BURN SKIN!
