We preserve and enhance the aromas through our patented pressurized cans. Patented in 1934 by illy, pressurization is a preservation system in which the air in the tin is replaced by an inert gas at a pressure greater than that of the atmosphere. In this way, not only is the freshness of our coffee maintained, but its aroma is also enhanced.

We've had whole coffee beans from tons of niche roasters, plus the usual variety of roasters such as Lavazza, Starbucks, Peet's, Seattle's Best, Stumptown, Carabou, etc. We've also had many of the highly ranked beans such as Jamaica Blue Mtn., Pure Kona and so forth. The consistency and taste of the Illy Intenso is what makes them our go-to coffee. Negative: I don't like how the lid doesn't screw on tightly, and the cans are easily damaged during shipping. But as for the coffee, it's awesome.

I’m not dropping stars because it’s not a reflection of the product itself, but I want to offer this heads up for other buyers. Bolo shipped three cans in a padded envelope and they all arrived dented. Two are actually missing the lids. If this had been a gift for someone, I would have returned them. If you care about the condition of the can, you might want to buy this from a local source.As for the coffee beans, Illy is a reputable brand with consistently high quality. I use them in an espresso machine and they produce amazing shots.

For a decaf for use in my automatic Delonghi espresso machine, I would rate this pretty highly. It does produce some crema but not as much as Lavazzo Super Crema, which is my overall preferred coffee bean. However, the Illy is good for when I want to go to decaf for awhile. On the can dents ... yes, with shipping in a bag, as opposed to a box, the cans are going to be dented since they are made from very thin material. As long as the seal is broken, I don't mind this at all. Besides, the whole can is going to be dumped into the bean hopper on opening, so this is not an issue that should bother anybody.

We have a Breville Coffee maker and spent a lot of time and money finding the “perfect” coffee bean to use with it. We considered things like taste, oiliness and price. Neither my husband or myself like strong coffee, so we tended to stay away from espresso beans. This coffee is just the right blend of mildness/flavor. Not too strong, not too weak. It also doesn’t leave an oily residue in our coffee grinder, which is so nice! The coffee is a little pricey but certainly won’t break the bank. And we prefer this coffee to most coffee-shop, so we save a ton of money by making our coffee at home! We love this coffee so much, we have it on subscription so we never have to go without.

This is one of the more expensive whole bean coffees, but I have enjoyed the taste. Would I buy it again? Probably, but there are other great tasting brands available at a lower cost per pound. The taste is very pleasant and smooth. There is no bitterness.

Great Coffee
Love this coffee. Lots of flavour even as a decafe. Low acid but no bitter taste. Had a bit of problem with the order but the company was right on top of it. I would buy this again from this company.
