We visited cousins in California in December and they heated water in a pan on their convection stove which was cool but spilled all over and would boil the water. Coffee is best made with water between 180 and 190 (for me), certain teas less and some need boiling. When we got home I ordered this kettle for the cousins and they love it. Enough buttons to satisfy the engineer! but easy enough to reset after power outages (we have them frequently).

I have had three kettles of the previous version of this Hamilton Beach kettle. I liked them because you could program to heat at certain time in the morning, they were larger than many kettles at 1.7 liters, and inexpensive. Unfortunately they were a pain to program, cheap looking, and lasted only about 12-18 months. This new version, while more expensive, solves many of the previous version’s drawbacks. It still is programmable, and easier to set time, it actually seems quieter while heating, and is good size. I don’t know if it will last, but it has five year warranty. Of all the kettles on Bolo, this is the only one I could find with all these features— plus it looks better than old version. Yes, it beeps when you push buttons, but I can deal with that in exchange for the features. It also keeps warm for up to an hour.

I loved this kettle, it was fast and easy, making me the best tea and coffee ever. But this morning it started to leak when I put it on. I don;t know why, maybe the seam came apart or something. I am looking for the return policy, wish me luck. Was it worth $75 for the short 5 months use, I could almost say yes, yes it was, but I ordered an electric water-heating-only kettle for $27 1/3 the price of the deceased who will be missed.

My last kettle was purchased here in 2013, also a s.s. HB. I accidentally broke the display through clumsiness and purchased this kettle as a replacement. It's been a real joy. This one is styled completely differently, not that that makes any difference. There have been real improvements over my older one. First, I can easily select six different heating temps. I drink several types of tea as well as coffee, and this is great. This one has a beep and a light. When I turn it on to start heating, the gauge on the side of the kettle lights up blue, making it very easy to see the water level. On my old kettle I had to squint to read the un-lit sight glass. When the kettle reaches the desired temp, it beeps twice, so I no longer have to walk over to see whether it's boiling. The old kettle would keep the temp at boiling (or near-boiling) for an hour, and then auto-shut off. In the morning, I usually have two cups of coffee so I won't have to go heat up the kettle for the second cup. However, unlike my old kettle, it also gives a choice of 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes of keep-hot time. I have what is probably average hands and I have no problem reaching inside if I wish to scrub. Even though I use the Berkey filter system for filtering water, I still clean the carafe once a week with white vinegar to take scaling off the bottom.This is a long review because I rely on this kettle several times daily. I'd still be using my prior Hamilton-Beach from 2013 if I hadn't broken it. I expect this fine appliance to last as long.

Update: Hamilton beach customer service honored the warranty and stood by their product. I am so excited to have a replacement because I really love this electric kettle. There’s nothing like waking up to water that is already ready for my pour over and my husband’s tea. I haven’t found any others that do the timer programming as well and work as quickly as this stainless steel beauty. I wonder if there is some thing with the design based on other reviews and will try to keep extra care to not let any moisture get near the heating element of the base plate and on the kettle because I don’t want this one to break again. I noticed some corrosion in the one that broke so maybe that’s the reason. Not sure if that was the problem but I love this one enough to treat it with kid glovesLove the timer program option, the heat settings, how fast it heats and so disappointed that it broke for no reason after 5 months I tried to contact the company and nothing/ no reply.

Four years in, it's started to leak and the computer has fried. It no longer recognizes the temperature and just boils away. Overall I'm very happy because we used this every morning for years! The body gets very hot and I've burned myself before, but that's what you get with a kettle!

It heats up quickly and has a really nice backlit lcd display and is easy to program. My old kettle the directions were stamped into the base and you had to leave the kettle off to be able to read them to figure out how to set it which was annoying. I like being able to do everything from the screen now.

The media could not be loaded. I have a large kettle that lives on my stove. I rarely use it because it is so energy inefficient. This electric kettle heats the water quickly, so I am using less energy, and that is good for everyone.It has a choice of various temperatures, including one for the French press. I use that setting the most. I use it to heat water to dissolve chicken, beef, and vegetable base, for steaming vegetables, and when making rice. It's easy to see exactly how much water is in the carafe, and since the top flips back when you push the button, it's also easy to fill.I had another electric kettle that had a switch to push down on, and when the switch broke one day while looking at reviews of similar machines, I noticed a lot of the reviews mentioned that the unit was great, except the switch failed after a year - just about the same amount of time as mine. Therefore, I decided I did not want to get another electric kettle with a switch.This kettle has buttons, and it has a clear indication of exactly how hot the water is at any given time. It will keep the water hot for you if you wish. It is also programmable, but I have not used that feature.
BEST kettle I've EVER owned

To change the temperature setting only takes a mere second.I love that I can set a timer for how long I want the kettle to keep the water at that temperature . It was a little on the expensive side for a kettle , BUT, it was EXTREMELY Well Worth It. I've gone through many kettles, but this is by far the BEST ONE I've EVER owned.▪︎NOTE : green tea has never tasted so good as when it's made w. water set to the perfect temperature. I honestly had no idea green tea could taste so good , no less, In My Own Kitchen.▪︎Also Note - as stated in the manual, I've only ever had water in the kettle

Esta increíble, calienta en minutos, el único problema es que la temperatura máxima no llega se queda calentando en 199°F y nunca sube a los 212°F por ello para este nivel de temperatura no funciona el apagado automático y si se olvida se hierve el agua y se va consumiendo

Love this kettle. Use the auto start timer a lot and it works great so that the kettle is nice and ready when I get up and the keep warm function means it stays hot until I'm ready to use it. The different preset temperatures are also great as I know teas are supposed to be at different temps but pretty much impossible to do before this.Others have said it's noisy with all the beeping but I don't find the beeps loud or annoying.So far it works great - it's been about 4 months and no issues and no rusting. It's a pretty good value for the price so far

Llegó perfecto, a tiempo y todo bien. Herví agua un par de veces por que así decía el instructivo que se limpia antes de usarse, en el contorno del fondo tenia una especie de silicon, lo limpié con cuidado aunque costo mucho trabajo, por que seguía habiendo sedimentos de silicon en el agua. En fin, la use unas cinco veces y funcionaba muy bien, pero de pronto empezó a pitar sola y de ahi ya no volvió a funcionar. Creo que la debí haber regresado desde lo del silicon.

after 2 years of owning this piece of crap the handle has broken off it's been leaking the heater doesn't work garbage garbage garbage do not buy stay away 5-year warranty means you must spend your money and shipping to send the whole thing back, they decide if it's fixable and if it ain't you have to pay for the shipping for the new item, for another problem that's going to start in 2 years stay away stay away stay away Hamilton Beach is nothing but pure garbage, will never buy a Hamilton Beach product for the rest of my life
