Some days it cooperates, others it stages a full-blown rebellion, deciding to go in seventeen different directions simultaneously. I've tried gels, waxes, sprays – a whole arsenal of products promising control, but often delivering either a helmet-like crunch or a greasy mess that looked like I'd wrestled a butter dish. I needed something serious. Something that meant business. That's when I found Reuzel Extreme Hold Matte Pomade.I saw "Extreme Hold" and "Matte" and thought, "Is this the architectural adhesive my hair has been craving? Will it finally stay put?" When this little tin arrived, it looked like something a classic barber would use. Simple, sturdy, with a cool pig logo (Reuzel means lard in Dutch, apparently – a fun, if slightly unsettling, fact). The pomade inside is a solid white wax.Using it is straightforward. Scoop a little out, warm it up in your hands, and apply. It goes in smoothly, no tugging or pulling. And the hold! My hair immediately stood to attention. It was like I'd built a tiny, flexible skyscraper on my head. It stayed exactly where I put it, defying gravity and the occasional gust of wind. This stuff is not messing around.The "Matte" finish is perfect – no greasy shine, just a natural look that says, "Yes, my hair is perfectly styled, and no, I didn't use half a can of product." It looks effortless, even though I know the Reuzel is working hard behind the scenes, acting as the silent architect of my hairstyle.And the scent! It's described as a subtle sweet rum fragrance, and it's delightful. Not overpowering, just a hint of something pleasant that makes you feel slightly more dapper. I’ve been looking for a “high hold low shine” for a while and this meets all my criteria:-hair stays roughly in place all day, but can be re-styled-isn’t crunchy/ crusty (unless you put it in when hair is too wet, in which case you can rustle it up and knock the starch out)-I don’t get a lot of “strays,” some other products will have random loose hairs in front that seem to lose their place halfway through the dayNot a huge fan of the smell (smells almost exactly like Pez candy to me, if you can recall that) but the smell fades quickly. Overall a winner

I'm a minimalist. I only put this stuff in the sides of my hair to keep my curls under control. Been using it 5 days a week for 8 months and still got almost half a container left. This stuff works supremely better than axe, oldspice, got2be, cremo, or even crew. Highly recommend.

EDIT:After using it for a little over a month, I had to subtract a star due to the fact that this product isn't quite as matte as I originally thought it was. There is a bit of a shine to it and my hair can feel a bit greasy the next day if I've added any hair powder to it (hair powder alone doesn't lead to greasiness). It's still a very good product though.**************I have very straight hair with a medium thickness. When my hair was super thick, almost any product worked on it, but that's no longer the case. I had never heard of this brand but my barber used it recently so I decided to give it a shot. I've probably tried two dozen pastes, clays, waxes, and matte pomades over the past 5 years, but none have worked well for me; this one has worked well. It has a strong hold, it's matte, and most importantly, it doesn't leave my hair feeling greasy the next day. It has a pliable texture, so it's fairly easy to work in. It's not rock hard like some waxes, but it's not too soft like many pastes, which don't have strong hold for people with straight hair. There's a light scent but it's not overwhelming and I actually like it. Another bonus was that I was able to buy a trial size (I wish more brands did this), so if it didn't work, I wouldn't have wasted $20-30. The only other product that I'd had some success with before trying Reuzel was Mitch's finishing clay, but I've found that the Reuzel works a bit better on my hair.

Purchased the small 1.3oz one for testing to replace AC Fiber. Wanted something healthier for my hair as I get older and my hair gets thinner.Starting off with the scent. I was skeptical, but it smells great to me. Kinda like a Pina Colada but it's not overbearing or offensive.The texture of the pomade is nice and has a fairly thick consistency. More liquid than AC Fiber and not as chunky by just a smidge. Warms in your hands quickly for application and applies very nice and equal everywhere needed.Will report back over the coming week or so on overall performance, as I bought another Japanese pomade to compare with.

Ist zwar nicht ganz billig, aber jeden Cent wert. Ich kämme meine widerspenstigen Haare nach hinten und mit diesem Produkt bleiben sie auch dort. Ganz wichtig: frühmorgens nach dem Aufstehen ist es nicht nötig wieder Pomade in die Haare einzumassieren, es reicht das Gestrüpp mit einen Föhn anzuwärmen. Die Haare lassen sich dann wunderbar und leicht nach hinten kämmen. Die Frisur hält dann auch.
