5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Klipsch Subwoofer!

This great R-120SW subwoofer is no exception. This subwoofer was delivered well packed, and in perfect condition. This subwoofer also works perfectly with absolutely no 60hz ground-loop hum, distortion, cone snaps, crackles or pops, or chuffing out of the rear port. This subwoofer also runs cool even when pushed to higher volumes for extended periods. Overall, I am very impressed with this subwoofer. I am sure it will last many years, just like all of the rest of Klipsch's great products.I purchased this subwoofer to replace a (still working great after 12 years) Pioneer Andrew Jones Designed SW-8 subwoofer. I was just looking for a little more low-end frequency for movies and music, and boy does this Klipsch subwoofer deliver. The 100 watt, 8" Pioneer subwoofer only produced frequencies down to 36hz, while this much larger and higher powered Klipsch subwoofer goes down to 29hz. I now hear and feel bass I had previously been missing with the Pioneer subwoofer. My main home theater system now consists of 5 (also 12 years old) original Pioneer Andrew Jones Designed speakers (2 floor, 2 rear surround, and 1 center channel), this Klipsch subwoofer, a Denon AV receiver, and a Samsung 4K 65 inch OLED television, and they all work seamlessly together. I recently upgraded the stock, weak tweeters in the otherwise great Pioneer speakers, with Goldwood GT-520 silk dome horn loaded tweeters, and that made a huge difference in balancing all of the frequencies from high to low. The tweeter upgrade, along with The addition of this subwoofer, really completed the sound I was looking for, as the Pioneer speakers sound great, but tend to be a bit midrange focused, out-of-the-box.This Klipsch subwoofer is really easy to setup. Unpack it, place it in a corner, plug in a good quality shielded subwoofer coax cable from the sub-out RCA jack on the back of the AV receiver to the white LFE RCA jack on the back of the subwoofer. Then plug in the power cable, turn on the AV receiver and subwoofer, and wallah, there is bass. I have the gain set to just past half way (after using the AV receiver speaker calibration), the crossover set to LFE, the phase at zero, and the power to auto. I initially ran the auto speaker calibration setup in the Denon AV receiver to match the sound to all 6 speakers, and it did a great job. I have the subwoofer and all of the speaker crossovers set to 80hz, per THX standards. The subwoofer is also set to "LFE+Main" in the AV receiver, so it works equally well with movies, TV, and music. It's hard to describe how amazing this home theater setup looks and sounds now with this new Klipsch subwoofer. The only "drawback" I would say this subwoofer may have is that there are no high-level in/out speaker connections for connecting it to an older amp, or a small portable amp, using standard speaker wires. However, that omission won't really affect most users.I highly recommend this excellent Klipsch subwoofer for anyone looking to build or upgrade a home theater and/or music stereo system. The retail price of this subwoofer (and all Klipsch speakers in general) may be a bit steep for some individuals' budgets, but Klipsch speakers are ALWAYS on sale, and steeply discounted everywhere. However, In my humble opinion, you really can't go wrong with Klipsch products at any price. Buy this great subwoofer now! No, wait, buy 2 when you find them at a great low price!
5.0 out of 5 stars Good Purchase
Solid vendor. Would buy again!
5.0 out of 5 stars Nice quality sub for the money
Subwoofer works great. Sound is phenomenal for the price
5.0 out of 5 stars Really good self powered speaker, bass for days, at very low levels it's plenty
Really really good powerful bass, I use it in the corner of a 30 x 20 bedroom and at very low levels it's enough. Adjustments work well. Old school rocker here and this is just overkill with nuance.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great!
I have gone through several other brands of subwoofers and have finally gotten a Klipsch. Maybe I should have purchased one of these first. The sound quality is spot on, the build quality is great, very easy to set up with my system.
4.0 out of 5 stars It Worked Pretty Well For Me
I'm not an expert in how a subwoofer should perform, but it definitely adds another dimension to my home stereo system, which would otherwise have a bottom end of 50 Hz. It is not 'boomy'. I was originally going to buy a different Klipsch model that was about $100 more, which had a slightly lower low end, but that one was considerable larger. Having received and installed the unit, it is now clear that that was the right choice. This is a sizeable unit for my listening environment. Be aware that I could not use the subwoofer out jack on my receiver because the signal from that output would not bring the subwoofer out of sleep mode. I had to connect the unit using the 'Record Out' right and left channels using twin cables to get the unit to come on. I don't know if the fault lies with the subwoofer or the receiver.
5.0 out of 5 stars R120SW Subwoofer is very powerful and takes listening experence to another level.
Wow! This subwoofer brings the music to life, almost is if you were at a concert. I can only turn up the Bass to about half power or less. It will cause your house to vibrate. I found that teaming this subwoofer with average speakers will provide an overall greater music experience. I highly recommend this subwoofer. It is a game changer and increases the overall listening experience from average to great. This subwoofer is powerful. Excellent purchase!
