I'm using these to support the loops on activator cables for range props. The ones that came on the cable are about 1/2 inch longer and 1/4 inch wider, but these will work just fine for this purpose.I was able to fix up most of the cable ends that needed repairs and now have a bunch of activator cables in various lengths at the ready for our setup crews.I ran out of clamps and ordered another bag that will be delivered today.

I had to replace some 3-mm SS cables because the wind had buffeted and stretched the cables against the solid steel hooks that secured them, causing fraying and breakage of individual fine wires in the cable. Having added these thimbles, there is no wear on the cables. In the photo you can see that each end of the thimbles has two little fingers that you can twist around the cable so that the cable cannot bounce or squirm free from the thimble in a high wind.

These thimbles are the right cross section for 3/16" wire rope but the radius smaller than normal. They will work but it will be much harder to bend the wire cable and secure it and the wire cable will probably exceed its minimum bend radius around the thimble. Dont depend on achieving full working load limit with these.
