I still to this day play this Donner guitar for practice. It’s got a nice C neck that fits well in my hands. Nothing on here is high quality, but it still sounds good through an amp, great with guitar effects, and will hold tune long enough for practicing and playing. This is a great first guitar for beginners who aren’t sure if they will stick to playing/be committed.Original Review:Great Guitar and accessories! Packed very well, guitar sounds wonderful, right outta the box! Quick tuning, and your ready to roll. No complaints, just straight happy with this purchase! I haven’t played in over 30 years, so got this beginner guitar, and I can honestly say it sounds beautiful, looks beautiful. Great little amp, perfect for practice, not for performing. Don’t pass this up if your debating between othe guitars around this price point...a true bargain for what you get. Keep on Truckin’ my friends!Update (4/1/2019): I have played this guitar daily since I first opened it in Christmas morning (2018). I still stand firm with my review. Only two negative points to mention now that I have spent lots of time with my sunburst friend. Guitar goes out of tune fairly easily and often when playing, and sometimes while having it on the guitar stand I purchased for it. It’s still very manageable, but a little irritating at times. 2nd negative is the tone and switching between pick ups. When switching between certain tones, there is no change. Not a huge deal for me, but depending on what your playing, not having certain tones right where you want them can be a little annoying. Otherwise, this is still an amazing deal and perfect for any beginner or casual player looking for guitar (package) in this price range. Enjoy✌🏼UPDATE 12/13/2020: I brought this in to my local guitar shop, has it set up proper, and it sounds excellent. The switches work great, also had the frets filed down some, since they were poking out and caused some scratching and cuts on my left hand on my pointer finger. Easy fix you can actually do at home. The action is wonderfully low making it much easier for bar chords and sliding up and down the neck. So again, I stand by my original review - it’s a perfect guitar for beginners and those who are picking up a guitar after not playing for many years and are unsure if the commitment is there. Once you are sure your into playing/practicing daily (as I did after not playing for 20+ years), then save and buy a better guitar. I have done so and now use this for learning how to do set ups at home, string changes, lowing or raising the action, and great if you aren’t familiar with the inner workings of the electric guitar. Highly recommended to parents looking for an affordable option for your child, or if your an adult looking for an inexpensive guitar in the Stratocaster style, this one should not disappoint!
5.0 out of 5 stars As a beginner this guitar has been great for me.
I've had no trouble with this guitar. It has great tone and stays tuned for me. It comes with a small electronic tuner that you clip onto the neck.I did immediately remove the strings it shipped with and installed new Ernie Balls @ only $7.99. While I had the back plate off to change strings I also reconfigured the Fender style "tremelo springs" as this recommended in a YouTube video on new guitar setup that I watched. The springs are shipped in a triangular setup and it's recommended to just have the 3 springs arranged straight through. This was very easy and intuitive to do with some decent needle nose plyers. If I have to criticize something then it would be that the frets have sharp edges, so I know I'm going to have to take care of that. Presumably the maple has dried out some since it was built and it's natural for wood to shrink. I'll have to pay for someone to file the edges or buy some tools and do it myself, which is most likely what I'll do.Update 2 months after purchase:I like this guitar today even more than the day I bought it! I've filed the fret edges down and at the recommendation of my online teacher, installed Ernie Ball 2225 series strings. The sunburst look, in contrast to what others here have said, in my case is nearly perfect. Maybe I was just lucky to get such a good specimen!? Even though I'm just starting out and I've only learned a few chords, it sounds amazing to me on the tiny little amp! The amp is rechargeable and I charged it up when I first received it and it's still running without a recharge. I don't turn it on that often, I mostly practice without the amp but still it's probably been on for a couple of hours.
4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Guitar for the Price!
I had an itch to pick up electric guitar after about 20 years and decided to try out a Donner after considering the cost and some other, honest, reviews. I have been playing this guitar almost every day for about a month and don't have any complaints.Out of the box it was set up pretty good and only needed to adjust a few strings for intonation. The frets were dressed very nicely and comfortable to play. The action was also very comfortable considering I had been out of practice for some time. Some folks would like a lower action, but this seems consistent with most manufacturers standards of new guitars. It actually has the same measurements as Gibson uses for their new guitars to go to market. The strings are cheap, but not bad. I haven't bothered to swap them out yet.The humbucker is okay, I like the sound with some fuzz or crunch. The neck is much warmer and great for lead. I have been playing through a 20+ year old Marshall 10w practice amp and headphones. The little amp is also a fun bonus. It keeps a charge for a good while, but it's not very loud. Good for running some headphones into if you want a decent clean and little bit of gain. My favorite feature is the Bluetooth function. I can connect to my phone and play along with tracks from Spotify (search for drum and bass for guitar practice). Strap, cable, picks, etc are all very basic and that's not a bad thing.Overall, I would definitely recommend if you want to get started playing or looking for a cheap HSS Strat copy that won't break the bank. I would also imagine this would be an awesome gift for young people to get into playing music. I actually liked this guitar so much in ordered another Donner and will review after a little time.
5.0 out of 5 stars perfect set up for beginners.
I bought this as a starter guitar for my daughter and she has used it daily for a while now. while its not the best guitar out there it is good enough to begin on and practice almost daily with. it was a great size and it actually sounds and looks good. we will probably be upgrading here soon since she is getting better at it but to see if she enjoyed playing and if she would stick with it this set up was perfect. we are going on 2 years with this one.

It comes as a complete package, which is awesome for beginners. You get spare strings, useful accessories, a decent gig bag, and even a mini amp if you’re just starting out.Personally, I use it for recording and plug it straight into my audio interface to run VST plugins, and it works great for that setup. The guitar cable that came with it is actually really solid – thick, durable, and no buzzing or noise issues, which was a nice surprise at this price point.Overall, it’s a fantastic value for anyone curious about electric guitar. It’s comfortable to play, sounds good, and gives you everything you need to get started without breaking the bank. Highly recommend!

Great value for the money, excellent for beginners. Needs some adjusting before playing!
Donner is doing a great job competing with other beginner guitars. I'm coming from playing a Fender Squier Affinity (beginner series) and this Donner guitar is as good if not better in quality of the wood, and components. That said, the components here are definitely all entry level. If you are serious about playing you probably want to replace the tuning heads (as these lose tune rather easily), the strings, probably the cheap plastic nut, and perhaps pickups (though the ones included are pretty good for the price). The neck on this thing is just amazing for the price, and there's very little buzz (though there is some) coming from the pickups. That is minimized if you use the switch to select positions 2 or 4 where you're blending pickups. This buzzing is present on most entry level guitars and electronics so that's not really a deal breaker. In terms of initial setup, I noticed right away that the bridge rests flat on the body, and it should be floating. There are several youtube videos on how to properly set up a floating tremolo bridge on a strat, so you'll want to follow one of those (just need a tuner (I'd recommend one of higher precision than what comes in the box) a screwdriver and that's it). I made a slight adjustment to the truss rod in the neck, but you're probably fine without it. Then I adjusted the height of the strings with the saddles (little allen key that comes in the box) so the strings don't buzz against the frets when you're fretting on the low frets. After that I had to adjust all the saddles (with a screwdriver) to fix the intonation of the guitar. (you want to ensure that the octave (12th fret) is also in tune after you tune the open string). Again guides for that are available online. After all that was done, I now have a strat with a properly floating bridge, that's in tune, and stays in tune when fretting strings. The downside here, is all of the extra stuff that comes in the box (tuner, extra strings, picks, capo, and the worlds tiniest amp) are kinda garbage... You'll want to get quality strings, better picks, a better constructed capo, and a more precise tuner if you're going to be using this for any length of time. What's included is enough to figure out if you (or a friend/family member) likes the feel of playing a guitar, but you'd be better served with higher quality accessories. The gig bag is.. alright, it's a basic bag and will let you store your guitar in a closet or something without it collecting dust. If you're really going to be transporting this guitar I'd get something with more padding.I wouldn't trust the strap... if you're going to be playing standing up I'd get something of higher quality. After all my bashing of the included accessories though, this guitar, is really a steal for the price you pay. After properly setting it up, it would be a great beginner guitar for the first 2-3 years of learning, until you might consider something 2-3x the price. One other thing I'd strongly recommend you purchase is a proper stand for the guitar, you don't want to have to put it in the bag and take it out every time.
Perfect Guitar to learn a few tunes...plays well enough...affordable as Guitars go...🎶👍
