Pleasantly Surprised With This Projector
This was a bit of an impulse purchase on Black Friday, I have only just got around to installing the projector. Basically I have gone for 100" screen and mounted the project from the ceiling using a universal mount. There is a huge range Input and Output options, but I have gone for a 10M HDMI cable connecting to my PC/DVB Box/and Play station, setup is really straight forward. Brightness and picture quality is great, in a dark room, though too much light in the room washes the picture out, though this is to be expect as its a projector not a TV! The audio from the projector is another bonus, more than loud enough for average use, I thought I might have to use my HIFI, but still have not connected this up yet as the project is good enough. Sadly the projector does not give instructions on how to connect to a wall/ceiling mount, in the end I removed the rubber feet which just unscrew and connected it to my ceiling mount. The other issue is that the projector does not have a zoom, so screen size will be based on the distance of the projector from the screen, 3M or about 9 feet for 100" screen.I have rate this projector so high based on it's sheer value for money, no doubt more expensive projectors will be even better, but where can you buy a 100" TV for less than £200, which is what is cost me including projector/screen/mount and cables?
Excellent Value for Money. Expectations exceeded.
I was looking for a low to mid-range projector so I could view movies outside in our garden. I was not looking for a "perfect cinema experience", I was more interested in the novelty of being able to watch movies outside. The ELEPHAS 5000 seemed to satisfy my wish list, and the cost was very reasonable. Consequently, my expectations were that this would simply "do the job".However...1) The build quality is robust and very impressive, and consistent with what I would expect from much higher priced projectors.2) The software on the projector is very simple to use, allowing simple navigation (via projector buttons, or remote) through the folders and files of an attached USB storage device. This makes it very quick to view the home movies I have recorded/edited.3) I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sound form the projector. I had expected to have to plug the audio out through a portable speaker, but this has only been necessary for watching music videos (when I like to control the bass/treble levels). For watching home movies, tv, or films that concentrate on dialog, the projector's inbuilt audio is more than sufficient.4) The picture quality is better than I had expected for the price. Even when viewing outside, during daylight, but in the shade, there is enough power in the light to project a legible and watchable image.Despite buying this with the intention of bringing it out to the garden once in a while, I am now thinking about whether to incorporate it as a fixture in our lounge for more regular use.In summary, I have been very happy with a very impressive piece of kit and would recommend to anyone.
Worth the upgrade from previous projector I had
Note: Images of brightness disparity is not due to a defect in the projector but A4 sheets of paper I have attached to the wall to show parts of the image of how it would look on a brighter background with the colours as I have yet to purchase a projector screen.Distance from projector lens front to wall is about 246cm and the size of the projected image is (w) 180cm (h) 106cmThis an upgrade from the previous GearGo 2800 lumens mini projector and was impressed with the quality of the image given the low price on offer that I bought it for so I decided to go for an upgrade with better lumens, 720p resolution and higher image contrast ratio the previous one only being 1000:1The higher resolution and contrast ratio really does make a difference with nice sharp images and colour contrast that especially looks good on animated films and TV shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons.Only real drawback to the images is that it cannot quite handle bright reds as well as other colours but is still clear and detail is still visible on objects (see Tekken Tag Tournament images)Also found the main plug socket to be a little lose that I had to put sellotape around to make it a tighter fit. Depending on how you are setting it up if you plan on having it set high up or attached to the ceiling I think the mains cord could have been a little longer. Standard cable length you see on other projectors probably but if you have it set up ceiling high or near ceiling high I don't think it will reach the ground. That's the only small issues I have though and by no means a deal breaker.Great image, good projector sound and the fan sound is not to loud that I think standard tv volume sound volume drowns it out.Controller seems to work well, nice and responsive and there is options to adjust the image to better suit your viewing.Another great feature is that it has a 5v output usb socket built in so you can plug and power your Bolo Firestick without the need to have it plugged into its own power socket.
Very happy with this Home cinema projector
I bought this projector to create a home cinema effect by projecting directly onto my white painted walls. This works well for me. After looking around at other makes and options I decided to go for the Elephas (it was discounted at the time) as it had good reviews.I'm new to projectors and home cinemas setups, but I have to say that I'm really happy with the quality of this projector at the price point it is. I went into this purchase with realistic expectations from a projector costing this much (don't expect 4k digital cinema quality). I'm sure there are projectors that offer much sharper quality, but you will need to be happy paying at least minimum 3-4 times more. For the price range of the Elephas it really does offer a great way to watch movies, sport etc on a large screen.Points to keep in mind if considering buying this projector;- By definition of how they work (think using a torchlight in the day vs at night) all projectors perform best when used in a darkened room. Whilst it will perform in the daytime, the image loses most of the depth of colour and contrast, whilst still watchable it's not at it's best, but darken the room, turn off the lights and this projector offers a really decent image that's very watchable. My girlfriend loves our mini cinema movie nights!- It took me a little time playing with the settings to get it the right distance from the wall and focused correctly.- I find I get the clearest image if you can place the projector facing straight on at the wall area you want to view (ie: not tilted facing at an angle upwards or downwards). Whilst the keystone focus helps with this, it does lose come clarity at the edges. (but not too noticeable when watching a movie)- I also bought a projector tripod separately and this really helps get the projector at the right angle to get the best clarity.- I do find the cooling fan quite noisy, but this doesn't affect my experience too badly as I have a bluetooth transmitter fitted to the headphone socket and prefer to listen with my bluetooth headphones (saving the neighbours having to listen to booming explosions of action movies).- Being able to play movies directly from the USB is great. This saves me having to connect any external devices to play content. Great if you want the flexibility to move the projector to different rooms in your home.In summary i think this is a great projector for the price and perfect for my first home cinema setup. Maybe at some point I might want to save and spend more on 4k quality etc, but for now this suits my needs just fine.
Really efficient HD projector for reasonable price!
Hi Guys,I hope my short review will be helpful for anyone who would like to get decent projector without spending a fortune.I bough Elephas HD projector, 3800 lux about 6 weeks ago. Before I made my choice I spent some time reviewing available LED projectors within this price range. I decided to go ahead with Elephas and I do not regret.I was a bit sceptic regarding brightness (lux) but believe me Elephas surprised me a lot! I was planning to use it only around evening times when I have time to watch anything and there's no much light coming from the outside. At the moment I use it at any time of the day. Of course, dark window blinds make picture a lot more vivid and sharp however with half closed blinds Elephas does the job too even during the day. Small light on does not decrease picture quality much so you do not have to sit in pitch black room to enjoy the video.Additionally wide range of available inputs make this device super flexible for home multimedia use.Two HDMIs in a good distance from each other allow to use Chromecast and other HDMI device plugged in. VGA port may sound like an oldschool, but still some videos look smoother when connected to VGA and sound goes directly to the amped speakers. If talk about speakers- Elephas has built in set. I am really surprised about the sound quality from the internal ones. Please do not expect any bass from them however speech and the background music is more than satisfying. Sound is clear and speakers do not overdrive it.Remote-super easy to use and very practical as adjusting settings with built in keys would be annoying, but still doable.Fans-Elephas has built in cooling fans. This part is always a big concern during the reviews. Either they may be too loud and interrupt watching the movie or conversation, etc.I will not mark fans noise in Elephas, but I will describe how it looks from my perspective. I hope this will give you and idea of how they work. You will hear them from the moment you start the projector, but the “noise”(let’s call it noise) frequency sounds like the white hum. So for some reason it is not annoying at all (at least for me). Also the hum is not loud to be perfectly honest. Once I play any video with background music/sound I am not paying attention to fans’ hum at all. It kind of disappears in some funny way. What I noticed and in my opinion it influences to quality of use is that fans do not go any louder even after few hours of constant use of the projector. They work on the same level and with the same frequency culture as when you start the projector. I’d say it is a benefit.I display picture on the bright wall. It is not white, it’s kind of sand colour and the picture is still very OK for me. I can only believe how that looks on proper screen or matt white wall. I sit my projector across the room, so the distance from the shelf to the wall is approx. 3m. Picture diagonal is then around 2,5m (huge). As you can see on attached pictures some pixels are visible but I think it is because of the distance. If you have a chance to install the projector a bit closer (ceiling or adjustable floor stand) they will not be noticable I believe. Also as I mentioned I use mainly chromecast as video delivery device. What you probably also noticed it cuts video quality comparing to for example laptop playing the same video. I think it is because network adapter differences. Youtube want to play content without breaks, so when wifi signal drops a bit youtube degrades resolution to keep video running. When I play high quality 1080p video with good bitrate it is super clear, even though this Elephas in 720p native. The better source content you deliver the better video Elephas displays. Sounds obvious but not everybody considers that. It does blur edges a bit from the distance I have it set but this is not the end of the world. The action happens in the centre of the screen anyway.Kensington correction works well.Overall I am very happy having Elephas. I really recommend this projector to everyone who is starting the adventure with large screen projections (as myself) and the same does not want to spent fortune. As mentioned having dedicated wall screen and/or adjustable floor stand may be a benefit improving picture quality and flexibility of Elephas projector.I hope my review will be helpful. Thanks for reading.
