I can't add much to what has already been said, but its got a good weight to it (solid, but not heavy) the jaws clamp the rod well, and it is one phillips head screw and one 5/16 allen screw to hold the welding lead. (A 7 or 8mm allen wrench won't work.)As for some mentioning that the spring is tough to compress. I would say it's inline with your average Tweco or good quality stinger for effort. However, the benefit of it is that is you are more likely to be able to unstick a rod without having to remove the stinger and then work it off with a pair of vice grips.

Bought this to replace the cheap holder that came with my welder, this electrode holder is of a much higher quality, better cable contact, stronger clamp strength, overall a really good electrode holder that will give me years of service plus its made in the USA. Highly recommend.

I'm not a full time welder, nor do I play one on Instagram, but I do have a welder on my service truck and sometimes need to put metal back together. I bough the welder used and it came with some gaudy huge box store electrode holder that wasn't going to work for me. I bought this one based on the flag shown in the pictures, and previous experience using one at a place I worked at years ago. It's pretty nimble but yet comfortable to use. If I was burning a few hundred pounds of rod a year I might spend big money on something else, maybe not, but for the 50 or so pounds a year I run it will last quite a while.

I was having an issue with striking an arc and couldn’t figure it out till I changed the stinger. The new one has a better grip on the electrode and handles 3/16” rid without a problem.
