5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Project
I bought this Lucky Doug Solar Power Kit for my grandson, and it was a huge success. He’s really into building things, and the fact that it's powered by the sun was a big selling point for me. The instructions were a little complex for him to follow on his own, so we worked on it together, which turned into a fun afternoon project. The pieces fit together well, and once we got it assembled, seeing it move outside was a fantastic moment for him. It's a great gift that's both a toy and a science lesson rolled into one.
5.0 out of 5 stars Buying more for birthday gifts
I purchased this robot kit for my six year old son to assemble. The directions were obviously too tedious for him so we watched a few YouTube videos that explained how to build the robot. It was so simple that my 6 year old refused to let me help with building the roly-poly robot. I literally wasn't allowed to touch it. After about an hour and a half, he built the robot on his own (he only cut out the parts as needed--with child scissors) The solar component was a bit weak and so the robot only seems to work if you shine a flashlight directly on the solar panel..but it definitely worked. I am planning to purchase at least 5 more robots to gift to my son's classmates as birthdays roll around.
4.0 out of 5 stars Challenging and fun to assemble
This toy could be appropriate for a 8 year old who likes this kind of toys but I think that it might be good to have an adult to help assemble the robots, the fun part about this toy is the assembly process and then the feeling of accomplishment once it works.I think that an adult help is needed for several reasons:1) All the parts come in several plastic molds that need to be clipped off with a wire cutter or something similar. In some parts, you'll need to make sure to cut off any remainder of the plastic mold or the robots won't work (Specially in those parts that rotate).2) Some pieces need a bit of strength to put together, but you have to be carefull not to break them. If you make a mistake, it also requires certain strength to disassemble.3) It's challenging and fun to make it work, maybe a 8 year old by itself could feel frustrated. (Most of my mistakes were because I didn't cut the pieces properly).4) The main part where the motor is, requires a bit of testing with the gears to make it work, but it isn't very hard.I'm not sure if the parts will allow to assemble and dissasemble 12 times to build each robot, I think that some will break in the process.Overall, I consider this a good toy, giftable, it requires patience to assemble, I think that for a 8 year old kid who is starting to play with this kind of toys might be very challenging.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very good!!
I purchased the Solar Power Robots Toy as a Christmas gift for my son and overall, I'm quite pleased with the product. It offers a fantastic blend of education and entertainment, allowing kids to explore STEM concepts while building and playing with robots. The packaging was excellent, ensuring that the product arrived safely and undamaged. Assembly was a breeze, and my son was able to build his first robot in just a few minutes with minimal assistance. One aspect that impressed me was the versatility of the toy, with 12 different robot models to build. It provides hours of creative fun and encourages experimentation and problem-solving.Overall, I would recommend the Solar Power Robots Toys to parents and caregivers looking for a stimulating and educational gift for children. It's a fantastic way to spark curiosity and foster a love for science and technology in young minds.
1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it - solar panel doesn't provide enough power and there a multitude of pieces to cut out
First off, there are a bunch of individual pieces that need to be cut away and trimmed (similar to a plastic model airplane or the like). This would have been alright, except that after assembling the gearbox and attaching the motor to the solar panel - nothing happened. The motor turned using a battery, but as this is a solar-powered robot, the point is to not use a battery. I thought maybe a defunct solar panel, and sent away for a replacement. Same issue. The instructions say that it should work under a 50 W light, but no lightbulb in my house was able to spin things up, and pointed directly at the sun didn't work, either. The motor will spin with the solar panel if not attached to anything and pointed directly at the sun. Once the gearbox is assembled, the motor won't spin. The fact that I spent probably an hour removing all of the individual pieces (which I'm glad I had taken a look, because father-son time would not have been the same had I had to spend it cutting out pieces), only to find that the solar power doesn't work with the gearbox assembled, is a huge disappointment.
5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
I bought this for my nephew and his dad to put together. The package was delivered quicker than projected. The project is good quality. They worked together to put it together and didn't have any trouble. The color was as advertised. My nephew has had a blast playing with it. The battery life seems good and there have been no issues. He absolute loves it!
3.0 out of 5 stars Little Too Complicated
Got this cool looking set for my autistic teen grandson for a Christmas present. The idea is still great. Look a the pictures and what fun it seems. I just can't testify to the quality of the product since my 50 year old data tech son, handy 35 year old daughter who puts cars together at the BMW plant, and that grandson for sure found these too complicated to assemble. Adults at a loss mean a challenged teen has little hope to decipher instructions. At 74 I didn't even TRY. Maybe you will have better luck, but be prepared for a BRAIN drain.
5.0 out of 5 stars Entertains and educates
Kept our grandson busy and educationally entertained for hours. He even showed it to all his friends but wouldn’t let them use it

Un muy buen juego educativo para hacer evolucionar a nuestros hijos
Great gift idea
Birthday present for a 12yr old boy.

This toy is a complete disappointment. Assembling it is nearly impossible without special tools. The plastic parts are of very poor quality, and due to this, the electrical components don't work properly. There's too much friction, and some of the wheels don't even move. Stickers... can't even stick them without tweezers. Avoid this toy. nothing to enjoy at all.
