The media could not be loaded. This sea monkey kit is super cool. We’re now on our third generation of sea monkeys FROM THE FIRST PACKET of eggs!! A few things that have worked for us: We feed them every 4-5 days and only about half of the TINY scoop. If you over feed them, it’ll mess up the water and can kill them but if you underfeed them, they’ll surely die. Our first ‘generation’ hatched about five, I think, and two of them survived into old age (haha). They swam in perfect synchronization for like three days at one point (it was really neat and kind of astonishing, to be honest) swimming and doing little turns and flips all over the tank. We keep ours on the windowsill above the kitchen sink in a west-facing window with partial shade (in NW FL) and they do well there. I write the date on the outside of the tank with a dry erase marker each time I feed them so not only do we not over feed, but when I’m washing my hands or dishes I inadvertently see the date and notice if it’s time to feed again. The first time I accidentally went six days we lost one of the two originals. But the remaining one survived alone for quite awhile (several more months)… until it happened again and we lost the second of the two originals. Twice before this there were new tiny little babies but I’m fairly sure the bigger ones ate them when they were still tiny. After we lost both ‘Flotsam and Jetsam’ I went to dump the water out and saw another baby!! So ‘he’ grew up (Roscoe this time, after our late dog) and had MORE babies. You can barely see him (or her) in the video but there’s the big one (Roscoe) and a teeny tiny one (yet-to-be-named). The brown thing on his backside is poop. It eventually falls off. Lol. I’m trying to feed a tiny amount every 3-4 days this time so hopefully Roscoe doesn’t eat the new guy. I think they also eat some of the algae that naturally grows on the surfaces over time. Three times now, when the water level dropped I took a small amount of filtered water from the fridge, left it out overnight to let the excess chemicals evaporate, and topped off the tank. It didn’t harm any of them. Trust me, the deaths have all been when I realized, “oh $&@! It’s been six days since I fed them!!” They’ve definitely been a really neat experience for my 4 y/o (and the rest of the fam!) and well worth the money considering we’ve had several rounds of hatchlings now! I hope this review helps. If you’re thinking about getting this sea monkey kit for kids 3-9 y/o, I highly recommend it! I even sent one to my friend’s kids in Wisconsin and they enjoyed it immensely.

Great little sea monkey aquarium. It worked for us, we have 5 adult sea monkeys (now mating!)
We followed all the directions, using distilled water, and had baby sea monkeys within a couple of days. 5 of them survived and lived to be adults, and based on their behavior I expect we'll have more before long! Two females have already produced eggs and now we're waiting to see what happens with those.Tips: Follow the feeding instructions - don't overfeed! And they seem to like indirect sunlight, but take care so that direct sun doesn't heat up their water. They can die from rapid temperature changes.We aerate the water daily, carefully, with the included aqua-leash. Don't squeeze the aqua-leash all the way in! The plastic for that is a bit cheaply made and it can and will crack. Just squeeze it in about halfway and it will hold up over time.Look at other people's photos to get an idea of how big this is. The aquarium is a little small, but it feels decently made and I enjoy seeing the sea monkeys "fly" around the mars environment.

Zero stars if I could. Followed the steps exactly and nothing ever hatched.

The media could not be loaded. My son absolutely loves watching these little guys. They are also starting to have babies and there’s so many of them!!! Getting a 1 gallon tank to upgrade their home with all this baby making that’s going on lol.
Perfect easy pet
These guys are so precious ive found a new obsession and the mars tank is the best one to start with!IT comes with everything you need to get started and i personally like the bottle shape as it fits easier on a shelf or in my case a desk. It did take a very long time for me to get sea monkeys, at least a month but i think this was due to user error they state that the sea monkeys may take longer to hatch in colder environments, we run our ac very low so it was to be expected. The plasic feels sturdy and the paint job is simple but fun, the tank itself has no moving parts but the mini space ship and astronaut are cute, Good bang for your buck, I have now had it for 3 months and i am so glad my sea-monkeys are alive and well. For the price i was pleasantly surprised with how great it is

The media could not be loaded. Was delivered on June 6, on June 7 I put the egg packet in. It is now June 15 at the time the video was taken. Be patient, they wont just magically appear, they may be hard to see while they are little. They need oxygen and warm water. My tank stays at 78 degrees F, I fed them with the little spoon after 2 days. They wont over eat, but they will die from suffocation if there is too much food. Feed them when the water is clear. Im lazy so I use a pump and have it very low, if you have no pump, you can blow bubbles manually using the pipette that came with the kit. I feed them every 2 days, with the small scoop that came with the kit. For the tank to stay warm, I put it by my sons TV, its on all day.They are living beings, and very small at that. They hatch at different times. They rely on optimum conditions to thrive. Google it, they are easy to raise, but they do have specific needs.
Bad Eggs
Egg packet was full of green liquid and unusable. The food packet was also damp. I went to a craft store and bought a basic sea monkey kit (purifier, eggs, food) rather than return the item.The tank itself is pretty unique and fun. I’ve had luck raising these little guys in the past, so i have no doubt they’ll look cool in this environment. You should use a heat source (heat mat/mini heater) if you raise them in water that falls below 68 degrees. I’m knocking off two stars because the ruined/wet egg packets are a common problem and because i paid $7 for the replacement kit.
