5.0 out of 5 stars Great zero carb substitute for any pasta

    T. · October 31, 2024

Have bought these twice and will again. From a flavor perspective, they are only as limited as your imagination. Have used miso, fish sauce, curry sauces, soy, ramen flavor packets of different types (discard the ramen, use the packets). The noodles take on any flavor you add with all the health benefits of Konjac.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!!! Seriously... WOW!!! These are awesome!

    M. · February 12, 2023

First of all, these noodles are completely flavorless. The only purpose is to add filler to a meal so that you feel like you're eating something substantial.I just "discovered" them today. I ordered them for same day delivery, and I used them to make my dinner. I used the Food Wishes/Chef John video from YouTube to make his Creamy Bay Scallop Spaghetti. I've made it before with actual spaghetti, but this time I used these noodle instead of real spaghetti. It was DELICIOUS!These are absolutely a zero carb spaghetti replacement. The texture is slightly different than real spaghetti, but it's not unpleasant. In fact, I told my wife as I was eating my dinner that if I had grown up eating these noodles rather than spaghetti, I'd probably think spaghetti had a weird texture. These noodles are slightly springy, but not rubbery by any means. I put them into my sauce for the last few minutes as it was cooking, and the noodles absorbed the flavors of the sauce nicely. I have no doubt that I could invite company over for dinner, cook them this "pasta", and if I didn't tell them it was carb-free, FIVE CALORIE pasta, they would have no idea. This stuff is going to become my everyday pasta.

1.0 out of 5 stars SMELLS LIKE FORMALDEHYDE (FISHY)

    L. · December 7, 2022

Ordered these a few months ago to explore alternatives to high carb pasta. Got busy when a hurricane hit our area and the 8 packet box of them got lost in the back of my cupboard. Pulled them out today to see about using them for a low carb spaghetti lunch and intended to pour some leftover frozen Bolognese sauce atop the noodles for my repast. As soon as I opened the box there was a “funky” smell that was a cross between spoiling fish and formaldehyde. If you are old enough to have ever dissected a rat, frog, baby shark, etc. when you were in high school biology class, you know that you can’t ever forget the creepy and nauseating smell of formaldehyde that imprints upon your brain cells. Both the box and the sealed plastic packets of these noodles smelled exactly like formaldehyde that had been imprinted on my olfactory nerve brain cells. These noodles are made in China (per the box) and the “Engrish” cooking instructions sure seem to confirm that. I have no animus against Chinese people, food, or culture, and I buy lots of Chinese made products. However, I followed the cooking and rinsing instructions to the letter but I just couldn’t get the formaldehyde stink of these noodles out of my nose. I feared the noodles might actually contain formaldehyde (which is toxic) that would be very bad for my health. As a result, I tossed them all in the trash, box and all (all 8 packets). If I were you, I’d be real cautious about ordering and eating this product based upon my own personal “sniff test” experience.

Watching my carb intake so decided to try these. The noodles really are my favorite for things like chicken long rice and soup dishes or pasta salad (I tried various pasta salad all were great : cucumbers salad, avocado & shredded chicken) the spaghetti noodle one is not that much different from the other best to cook it up in a pan first to solidify the texture if you thinking spaghetti substitute however the rice like pasta DONT DO IT. It's really hard to rinse without losing all your pasta and the taste is not appealing I even am not a fan of the yellowish tinge to the water in the package it's stored in it really is not visually appealing

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellentr option for keto noodles + good fiber for a binder

    C.M. · July 6, 2023

Recommendation: If you want a keto noodle replacement, and don't mind a slightly different texture (or the higher price), buy these.Pros:* Pretty much a noodle aside from having a bit more springiness* No carbs* No flavor* Good fiber for binding (if you have health problems)* Doesn't seem to aggravate constipation or diarrheaCons:* Expensive compared to noodles* Slightly different texture, but 95% a normal noodleMore:Has pretty much no flavor with just rinsing it off.In most sauces, you'd think they were noodles, and might not notice anything off.If you concentrate on texture- they feel a bit more "gelatin" like compared to actual noodles- have some resistance to breaking, have a bit of springiness when pulling on them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for what it is. USDA Organic

    J. · November 9, 2020

EDIT: I have now figured out the main issue with these noodles. The oat fibers appear to amplify the plastic taste of the noodles. Lightly stir frying before trying to use them reduces it, but these still have more of the plastic taste than the clear versions without oat fiber. Recommendation still applies.Pros:- oat fibers make this one taste more like regular noodles- USDA OrganicCons:- Not returnable- Texture still has the rubberiness all Konjac has- Taste still has the rubberiness all Konjac hasSTRONGLY RECOMMEND buying a smaller amount first to test out first, and give it a chance using non-standard recipes meant to complement shirotaki. Normal noodle recipes just result in not good cheap imitations. Like expecting a movie while reading a dictionary or doing vocabulary flash cards.IMO these shirotaki with oat fiber to make them taste more like noodles defeat the purpose. Uncanny valley. Best type to use are the fettuccine clear noodles because of softer texture and flavor, and they're cheaper too.Go to a Shabu Shabu hot pot restaurant and try the shirotaki knots and you'll understand what I mean.Find it in your nearest Chinatown. Japanese and Chinese style hot pots should both have them in various forms and soups for you to try out.

Fabulous product to ensure you don't eat too much pasta. I can still eat foods like spaghetti and fettucine - I just sub the Konjac noodles. This product was recommended by my dietician after I suffered a small stroke...

Smells bad out of the bag. Smells like the seafood market. Mildly. As if you're walking towards the market. Kind of unsettling when it's not supposed to be seafood. Rinsed it first before cooking. Tastes weird. Can't finish the rest. Like eating elastic bands. On the back of the box it says this product is odorless and ready to eat. That can't be true.
