This marble run was more frustration than fun. Despite the vortex dish funnel and the plinko track being one of a kind, a lot of trial and error is needed for this set to work. The level 3 build (as shown in the photos) took me 10 minutes to build but more than 30 minutes for the reaction to work 80% of the way down (*didn't manage to make it work 100%*). Overall, a lot of things can go wrong in the reaction, so more than 95% of the time, the whole thing doesn't work.Moreover, my set is missing a base (I received 9 out of 10 bases). The pieces are not high quality since the tubes are slightly smaller than the tubes I received from the Galt Marble Racer, making the two marble runs incompatible despite coming from the same brand.The only reason this marble run deserves 3 stars is the affordable price tag and somewhat fun action pieces.

Was missing one of the paper guides. Couldn't get the marble to jump correctly on the rubber drum to hit the next phase. Instructions were s too difficult for my 5 yr old.

My son is really into marble racing. He has the other Galt marble racing kit and has spent many hours with it. But he didn't get into this one. It was kind of fun for a day and then he lost interest. So I guess the point of my review is that even if a child is into marble racing, they may not get into this one also, because it's a very different kind of thing.
Ideal for children 3+
Item arrived on time. It was a good sturdy item and all fitted snugly. There were others cheaper but the ones we looked at seemed flimsy. Our 3 year old granddaughter loved it. She was able to put a few parts together herself and make it work. Dad and grandad made the more complex set ups. Good value for money.
Good fun and well made
The lad loves these marble run sets, very sturdy and easy for a 5 year old to put together. Good fun all round, getting others to build on collection from an auction site....
Cool addition to the marble run family
Bought this for my 5yr old son who absolutely loves his marble runs. We have a several of the Galt editions and these are by far the best of the bunch. Made from a solid durable plastic and all pieces fit together without any issues. They are also compatible with all other Galt marble runs and most other brands (bought a few that are not and it's very disappointing as my son likes to combine the sets to make a massive marble run).This set is a little different from the usual sets though in that the marble does not stay on the run continuously. Various new pieces lead to jumping, knocking, bouncing, swinging sections in order for the marble to complete the run. Whilst this was a little tricky for my son to get at first, it does add a very different dimension to the activity and he quickly worked out how to get the desired results.There are some maps/guides in the box to help with positioning of the new pieces and showing how they can be used. Wish I had worked this out sooner as it was not particularly clear what they were at first! It's not overly difficult to work this out without the maps though, just a little frustrating!All in all this is a different but interesting addition to the marble run family. Combining classic marble run pieces with some fun elements that make your child think a bit more and encourages trial and error! Would recommend if you have the original sets, definitely. As a first time purchase, maybe go for a basic set first?
Not as good as the marble racer
Bought this as we love playing with the marble racer but it's just not as good - really hard to get the marble to do what it's supposed to, especially on the bouncy rubber element - it's near on impossible to get the angle right! Pretty sure they faked it on the tutorial video as we just couldn't get it to work. The other elements are fun but it's a bit tricky for a child to set up without adult help
Great for the grandchildren
Xmas present for grandchild. Sure she'll love it. Looks good.
