I'll start this review by saying I don't bake with this so I haven't used it in any recipes. However I used to, and because the taste and texture are so different than other brands I can only assume it would reflect in the final baked good. That should be kept in mind.I started using dark brown sugar in my coffee one day when white sugar wasn't available and loved the additional flavor of the molasses so I've continued since (brown sugar is just white sugar with molasses added). I don't use sugar in anything other than cereal, oatmeal, and coffee on the weekends, and this tastes great in all of those so I don't even buy white sugar anymore.Initially I was trying to order a different brand from Bolo Fresh but it wasn't in stock. That went on for a few days and when I got close to running out I pulled the plug and ordered this Bolo brand. When I opened the bag I noticed the granules were larger and more moist as if either more molasses was used in the process or the process itself was different than the other brand (it tastes as though they use more molasses). At first I was a bit nervous but after my first time using it I was glad for the change. The difference in flavor is subtle but I like it. I will say that it doesn't dissolve as easily but a few extra stirs takes care of that. Because this sugar contains more moisture I was worried it might cause clumping issues but surprisingly it doesn't. In fact it appears to stay fresher even longer than the others. It's sweeter than other brands I've used so I don't need to use as much. The quality is equal to others and the price is nice.I highly recommend it!

This is my favorite brown sugar. It does have a different consistency but it's not really different. The taste a little sweeter that's about the only difference and it's not as dry. I love it and I'm so sad it's not in stock right now. So when it's in stock I suggest you grab it

The packaging is not good. It’s a plastic bag that is like the kind you get marshmallows in. I believe this may be contributing to the quality and appearance of this product but not a packaging expert. All I know is that freezer bag ziploc plastic is thicker than this packaging. I put the sugar into one of those to store it in my kitchen.The sugar is wet in the bag and a lot sticks to the sides of the bags and clings to the cut opening I made. In the other brand packaging that we normally use, the other brand’s dark brown sugar does not adhere to the bag this way. When you open the package it will spill on your counter little grains and every single time you open it a little gets on the surface you are on. (To Bolo: Consider changing the type of bag used to package this, please!)The sugar also looks crystallized, not at all like consistent wet sand that is what I’ve come to expect of dark brown sugar. It’s packable but I think the crystallized appearance makes me wonder what is going on in this dark brown sugar. It will affect the quantity of sugar in your recipes as well due to the size of the granules.Flavor wise is pretty decent. So far I’ve used it in blondies and oatmeal and my baked goods seemed to have a very nice texture and the oatmeal was almost too sweet in the typical amount I use.

Finally, it’s back in stock! Ok, here’s my review: this baby is rich and moist and absolutely perfect for baking. There’s a lot of molasses in it, which is great. After I started using this I struggled to get back to using my regular brand’s ‘dark brown sugar’ because it wasn’t dark ENOUGH.Now, I’ve only ever used this in baking so I have no idea what it would taste or feel like if it isn’t properly dissolved. But I can say that this helps make some BOMB baked goods, like cookies and banana bread and cinnamon rolls.The sugar is super moist, so it’s best to be transferred to another container. I put all the ingredients I use for baking in airtight containers and I’ve never had an issue with this hardening.Overall, this is a great product and I hope Bolo never goes so long without having it in stock again.

just has a bit of a taste that takes a moment till you recall it is similar to the not-so-dry rural-jaggery (गुड़, Hindi, 'gurh' in the dry version perhaps similar to piloncillo.). slightly moist, so figure out a good spoon, etc.

I’m not a fan of this type of sugar I’m not used to it and I don’t like it. It almost taste like it’s got salt in it and it’s wet, no,I don’t like it. Sorry.
