Obviously you don’t want to use these things in a cyber security sensitive environment, but for home use they are absolutely awesome.I have several cameras from this brand still in use even after 10 years! They have survived triple digit summers, hurricanes, tornadoes, torrential rainfall and freezing temperatures all without hesitation.I run my own camera server and these are very simple to set up. They don’t use a bunch of annoying cloud stuff, they simply run off of POE power and do their job of being a great IP security camera.Setup was extremely easy. Plug it up, get a DHCP address from your network router and log in with the default credentials. Set a new IP and password, add it to your surveillance software and you’re done.Running these from a POE switch works as expected and the picture resolution is top-notch.

These are European models. Not US models. They still work but integrating with a Synology device was guess work. I had to use a different camera profile but got it to work anyways. No firmware updates available unless you go to the HikVision European site.

I tried using this with the IR illuminators and without, and the picture is MUCH better without. I get enough light in my yard from the porch light and the street light that it works better with the IR turned off. I have about 20 different Hik cameras around my property, including two of these. These have the best nighttime picture quality of any of them, by far.
