Licorice pastels have become more and more difficult to find locally. This is a great value and tastes fresh. Not sure what some of the other reviewers are complaining about (freshness, flavor or crumbly) as I found the overall condition of the candies to be perfect. Good blend of mild sweetness with licorice flavor

There was nothing I did not like about these licorice when you eat these of course my age is 81 years of age it takes me back to when I was a kid and then 45 blocks from where they made licorice and we used to go down and then workers would get bring licorice out and give it to us and that was in Baltimore Maryland boy has things changed today. But these candies are just like they used to make bags then they have the great taste of the licorice as well as the sweetness of the candy coding I have ordered these two times.

I've always experienced a crackling shell on licorice pastels but these were almost gummy. They had a terrible chemical taste to the coating and very little taste of licorice. Guess that's what I get for not buying a name brand. In the trash and $$ wasted.

Here's what I found.DM Sweets-Best appearance, nice shine-Not crunchy-Good flavorFirst Choice Candy-Crunchy-Very minimal flavorEmporium (Kenny's)-Superb flavor-Sometimes crunchy, but usually not crunchyI think I'll go with Emporium from here on out. If I had to go with one of the other two, it's a toss up. Maybe DM Sweets would barely take second over First Choice Candy. First Choice was the only one that was crunchy, so that would be the winner if crunchiness was your priority.
