No noisier than any other air conditioner that sits in your living room 5 ft from your head. Is it super quiet no. Is it super loud no . Is it loud yes it reminds me of my old dishwasher. I'm sensitive to high sounds high pitch sounds. As long as it doesn't have any of those it doesn't bother me. The reason I'm sticking with Frigidaire is I had a six year old 15,000 BTU Frigidaire window AC unit never did any maintenance on it except clean the little filter screen to the front. Left it in the window all year long for the past 6 years. I was ignorant and I didn't know you were supposed to do anything to it. It kept working, I kept using it. Had a crappy tenant with multiple pets stay in there for about 8 months didn't even clean the filter screen and yet it was still hanging in there still reaching 60° in a matter of minutes for that particular room it was in. Had to take it apart wash all the mold out that he caused and 6 years worth of vegetative matter that got in through the slots, pine needles that kind of thing. The drain hole was clogged up. It came as a sleeve unit so there was no way to just take the bottom thing off and wash that off and it weighed over a hundred pounds, that's the bad side of a sleeve so it survived despite that extreme amount of neglect on my part. It did not survive us taking the back off cleaning it out and doing everything else to it. Waited 36 hours turned it back on. Worked immediately reached cold immediately but now the fan has this grating noise to it that I can't live with so I'm giving it to the handyman he can fix it and keep it. I got one of the 12000 BTU and put it in the same space that the other 15,000 was in. I just ordered a 12000 BTU because it's more appropriate sized for this small cottage. It sits in full sun all day long Non-Stop no trees relative to underground plumbing and wiring. Originally a concrete foundation shed that was converted from a 24 x14 to a cottage complete with open cell foam insulation drywalling , real bathroom in a separate room . SeparateCloset . Separate storage area main area has stackable washing machine dryer that vents outside properly, 18 cubic foot refrigerator, an air fryer ,coffee pot, electric tea kettle , two giant overhead ceiling fans, electric frying pan and microwave....All exhaling heat and humidity into the same space thats under 500 ft. Would I have done the space differently knowing now what I didn't know then , absolutely. Open plan would have been hugely better and much more energy efficient and one air conditioning unit would have done it. A separate space for the washing machine and dryer where the storage room is. When all these things are in the same area the humidity climbs back fast so this AC unit run in dry mode and eco absolutely works to maintain your temperature and can rapidly lower the humidity and does a great job of it. And if it would just cut itself off right there after the compressor stops I'd be sitting in high cotton. Unfortunately all the window air conditioners once they reach the set temperature and the compressor cycles off THE FAN continues to blow for the next 2-3 minutes ,sitting right next to a humidity reader. I've got like five of them in the room spaced out in different areas to make sure they're averaging about the same throughout the room and they do you're better off to turn the air conditioner off immediately and not let it run in eco mode if you're there. Since I never used to have a reader for humidity it's probably ignorance is bliss kind of thing, but it does go back up by about four points in humidity immediately on all of them when the compressor kicks off and it continues to run on eco for those few minutes while it blows the fan only. I listed all those extreme conditions so you can see it could do the job, it's doing the job with all this stuff in one room it can certainly cool your living room or bedroom down. I have another one of the exact same one that I purchased last month it's in the kitchen window I'll run the one in the bedroom just at night time and then the one in the kitchen during the daytime I do not need both of them at the same time and they act as a backup for each other if anything ever happens. Power consumptions not horrible in eco mode, but we're far from summer so only time will tell.

I have been using the Frigidaire FFRA051WAE air conditioner for a few weeks now. So far I would say it is a good air conditioner at a great price. It is much smaller and lighter than my previous air conditioner but still very powerful. This specific model weighs 40lbs.I use this AC unit to cool a small bedroom and the 5000 BTUs is plenty. My room gets extremely cold in an hour running on the High Cool 7 setting.Helpful tip - if you want your room to stay cold at night and the overnight temperature is going to dip into the 50s, run the AC for 1-2 hours on the High Cool setting before the temperature drops below 60 degrees, then shut it off for the night. If you install some cheap insulation foam on your windows and doors your room will stay cool much longer.Never run a window AC when the temperature outside is below 60 degrees because it can freeze up the unit. I ran my previous air conditioner everyday in the summer and never knew why it kept shutting off on its own on cold nights. I thought there was a short in it. There must have been an internal chip failsafe that kept my old air conditioner from destroying itself... this is why it still works to this day. This Frigidaire air conditioner was relatively easy to install right out of the box and fit securely in my window. The only tool I needed was a philips screwdriver. A handy person could probably install this AC unit by themself in about 10 minutes. Two notable mentions from the installation manual... the 5/16" pitch is built in to the design of the AC unit so no need to worry about doing it yourself. Pitch is the backward tilt which causes water to exit the back of the machine and drain to the outside. In step 1 on page 2 they mention placing the unit on the floor to install the side panels but what they don't specify is that you must place the unit on its back to do so. To get the accordion panels in place lay the air conditioner on its back with buttons face up and slide each panel through the 4 holes on each side. You'll know when you've done it correctly.I almost didn't buy this air conditioner due to the negative reviews about it not cooling and/or breaking right away. Am starting to think that people give too much weight to negative product reviews these days. Electronics are generally tested before sale and rarely fail right out of the box. Paying extra on an extended warranty is betting on your electronic to fail which is almost always a losing venture. It's also worth noting that most people never leave positive reviews on any items they buy, they only leave a review if something is wrong with it. This behavior highly skews product reviews in a negative way.My main complaint regarding this Frigidaire air conditioner is that there is no built in timer. But that would likely have raised the price closer to $300. My old air conditioner had a timer but was very heavy and much harder to install. There are timers online you can buy that should work with air conditioners. But as mentioned previously if you insulate your room properly you can probably get by running this AC unit for just an hour or two most nights. My only other complaint is a minor one. I leave my air conditioner plugged in and turn the unit on and off on a daily basis. I would much rather have push buttons on an air conditioner than a knob that you turn that could eventually break off.Final note: When I first got this Frigidaire air conditioner it did not produce super cold air immediately right out of the box. I believe it took a few hours. This is something to keep in mind. Just because an air conditioner doesn't get super cold instantly doesn't mean it's broken.

yes. it's loud. like any a.c. is loud. nothing more. it was easy to install. no hiccups. it has been working well for several weeks. keeps my 225 sq ft bedroom nice and cold! i mainly only use the cool mode. it does what it's supposed to do. the options of the other modes are nice. the "dry" mode is interesting in that it's supposed to be more like a dehumidifier. i haven't used that mode much. i'm in Nevada.my gripes: 1. doesn't remember the last setting so i have to reset each time i turn it on. 2. i can't set the timer from the remote. to me that makes no sense. i got the remote to not have to get up out of bed to set the a.c. so while i can adjust temp, mode, power on/off with the remote... i have to get up to set the timer before i fall asleep. 3. the "sleep" setting is pointless as far as i'm concerned.

This is the BEST window unit I've ever had...ever! It took less than a minute to cool my bedroom down, and about 5 minutes to make it feel like the Costco freezer section. :) I personally love the sound of the fans on this one since I sleep with a fan on 365 days, so no complaints there! The unit itself looks great, even from outside! The only complaint I have is the remote control is tiny and hard for me to read, so I've just been using the controls from the A/C itself. I would absolutely buy this again and have told several friends about it.

I purchased this air conditioner for a small bedroom and I will say it works very well for its size not to heavy and super simple installation I had it up in running within 20 minutes and super quiet love the dry/dehumid mode only used that mode so far with the heat we had the other day

Works great so far, haven't owned it for very long

It seems like it moves a lot of liquid around internally. We installed the unit in such a way that it was slightly tilted towards the outdoors which allowed any excess water to escape outside rather than inside. It uses a considerable amount of power, however in my case I found it highly effective to let the A/C run for about 20 mins and then simply switch it off. It felt like my room would stay cool for hours after letting it run for just a short amount of time.

    decent

as expected and described, this unit cools off a single bedroom nicely. mine and my partner's bedroom is medium to large sized and this unit keeps it comfortably cool even during heat waves. i will note that this unit is very low TBU meaning it's only meant to cool off one room, not your entire living space. some other reviews here mention folks using this to cool off their whole home, and i'm happy that seems to work for them, but not only is that not what this product is advertised for, but i find it doesn't do that for us (we tried leaving the bedroom door open and directing the air through the house using a large fan).it's fine that our unit doesn't do that because we didn't wholly expect it to. if it does cool off the rest of the house at all, it's very minimally and not to a degree that will relieve you during a heat wave. as for our bedroom, it doesn't turn it into a refrigerator like some high TBU units will, but it does exactly what we need it to do all for a decent price.

    Great price

Great price ,easy to assemble . The window wall has no plug ins. I had to buy an AC 15 foot cord for unit. I hate having extension in the way so 15 foot can be hidden. The air conditioner does what it's supposed to do. Room is small so it gets cold when I put on high cold. It came with everything even weather stripping .. I recommend this unit highly .. 5 stars .

What a relief from the heat

I am an elderly senior living in a mobile home. My central air broke down several years ago and the cost to repair was just to great. I was trying to get by with fans but with the heat and humidity of where I live I just couldn't take it. This unit was reasonable cost...I am paying over 5 months so it helps the budget. I was to heavy for me to install but my neighbour had it unpacked and safely installed in less than 20 minutes. What a difference. I have the unit in my kitchen window with the fans set to blow the cool air down the hall to the other rooms. I have only had it on high once...low cool at 6 keeps my trailer just right. Great purchase.
